MORE ABOUT NAUTIE

The name is "Nautie", NOT "Naughty", please!

Ok, here's the thing. My real name is Michael, but years back I read a book called "Shore Leave", featuring sailors. What can I say? I wanted so to be one of them. I even started gym in greater earnest (with little effect actually). Just as Picasso had his "Blue" or "Pink" period, so I had my "nautical" period. The name stuck

Here are some of the things I like best

Books
Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
To Kill a Mocking Bird - Harper Lee
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Peter the Great - Robert Massie
The Language Instinct - Steven Pinker
and I am a big Bill Bryson fan too

Music
classical:
Messiah - Handel Coronation Mass - Mozart Pastoral Symphony - Beethoven
popular:
Ballads - Joan Armatrading, Cat Stevens, Albert Hammond... that sort of stuff
Favourite song of all time? hmmmm - maybe The Theme from Arthur: Christopher Cross

Food
Greek and Italian (mind you, Italians themselves aren't bad)

Movies
Jumpin' Jack Flash (Whoopi was superb)
When Harry Met Sally (Meg Ryan - stunning)
A Room with a View
In & Out (Kevin Kline - such an underrated actor - so versatile)

TV
Not a big teevee fan actually, but Seinfeld and To the Manor Born are great (yes I know they are old now)

Sport
Tennis (what else is there?)

Oh well, yes there is also Rugby I suppose, for watching

I used to swim a lot. Only sport I was ever any good at.

Plays

Amadeus by Peter Schaffer - brilliant (NOT the movie however. What an abortion!)
Copenhagen by Michael Frayn (amazing - a hit play about nuclear fission of all things!)

My worst things

Too many to mention, actually ;-)
But I would have to say I'm NOT the world's most tolerant non-smoker
