Notes for Catherine Apple: Catharine was living with son Martin and family in the 1860 and 1870 census.

Children of Martin Isley and Catherine Apple are:
i. Sally Isley, married Alvin Smith July 11, 1838 in Orange County, North Carolina (marriage bond).

Notes for Sally Isley from Rex Isley:
Sally married Alvin Smith on 11 July 1838.   Both Sally and her husband Alvin are listed in the 1840 census as being in the age group 20-29 years of age.  No children were listed in this census.  When Martin wrote his will in 1859, he listed his granddaughter, Polly Smith, daughter of Alvin Smith, as an heir.  I have been unable to find any additional information about Sally.  There is an 1850 census record with an Alvin Smith, age 35, living with William Smith, 58, and Molly Smith, 60. There is a child by the name of Polly who was age 9 at that time.

  ii. Simpson Isley, born Abt. 1803; died Bet. 1870 - 1880; married Delila Isley; born Bet. 1804 - 1805; died Bet. 1870 - 1880.

Notes for Simpson Isley from Rex Isley:
In 1840, they were living in Guilford County, but had returned to Alamance County by 1850.  We know that in 1859, Simpson and his family were living along Rock Creek   Both were living in 1870, and not listed in the 1880 Census

Notes for Delila Isley from Rex Isley:
While Reverend Offman`s writings seem to be inaccurate, we know from George Isley`s will, he left the following to his daughter Dilly:  "I give to my daughter Dilly wife of Simpson Isley one Negro girl by the name of Polly and a track of land in Rockingham County purchased of William Green to her and her heirs forever"

iii. Levi Isley, born Abt. 1806 in Orange County, North Carolina; died 1876; married (1) Sarah Sharpe; born October 25, 1805; died October 15, 1846; married (2) Elizabeth Spoon; born July 13, 1818; died December 31, 1887.

Notes for Levi Isley from Rex Isley:
His first wife was Sarah Sharpe, born 25 October 1805, died 15 October 1846, aged 40 ys 11 ms 20 ds.   According to the 1850 census, Levi and Sarah had eight children.  Between Sarah`s death and 1849, Levi married Elizabeth Spoon.  She was born in 1819-1820 based on census entries.  There is an Elizabeth Spoon Isley, born 13 July 1818, died 31 December 1887, buried at St Paul`s Lutheran Church.  Reverend Offman states that Levi and Edwin Isley both, married an Elizabeth Spoon.  The death dates of the first wife of Levi and Edwin are consistent with Levi marrying the widow of Edwin Isley-Elizabeth Spoon Isley. Levi died in 1876.

iv. Milton Isley, born December 15, 1807; died December 18, 1869; married (1) Margaret C. Kirkman; born December 02, 1820; died December 12, 1888; married (2) Polly Loy Bef. 1838.

Notes for Milton Isley from Rex Isley:
In 1840, he and his family (first wife, Polly Loy ) were living in Guilford County.  The 1850 census listed Milton, his family and wife of less than one year, Eliza , living with his father, Martin.  By 1859, Milton was living on his own place which adjoined Martin`s plantation.  Milton died on 18 December 1869.  Margaret C., wife of Milton Isley, born 2 December 1820, died 12 December 1888, is buried beside Milton in the Mount Hermon Cemetery.  Peggy is a nickname for Margaret.  Neither the name Eliza nor her age, provided by the 1850 census, tracks with the data on Margaret`s headstone.

  v. Mary Magdalene "Polly" Isley, born January 14, 1809; died October 10, 1879; married Austin Isley December 26, 1831 in Orange County, North Carolina (marriage bond); born Abt. 1806; died Aft. 1880.  Mary Magdalene "Polly" Isley: Burial: St. Paul's Lutheran Church

Notes for Austin Isley from Rex Isley:
Austin received an inheritance from his father George as follows:  "I give to my son Austin Isley the two tracks of land purchased from Tobias Smith and Isaac Holt, except a good road each side of the branch that runs through the said Austin Isley`s plantation from Daniel Isley`s  line to the rock where the road now crosses the said branch.  I also give my son Austin Isley one Negro man called Nathan to him and his heirs forever."

The 1880 Census lists an Austin Isley, 70 years of age, living alone, and working as a laborer.

  vi. Winney Isley, born Abt. 1811; died Bet. 1880 - 1900; married Andrew Albright; born Bet. 1813 - 1814; died Bet. 1870 - 1880.

Notes for Winney Isley from Rex Isley:
Winney was born circa 1811 in Orange County.  She married Andrew Albright .  He was born in Orange County circa 1813-1814 based on census calculations. In 1860, both were alive, and their son, Andrew J ., was living with them.  In 1870, Winnie and Andrew were alive.  In 1880, Winnie was listed as a widow and living with her son A.J. Albright in Coble Township .  The 1893 Alamance County Map depicts an AJ Albright to the west of where Martin Isley lived.  This is probably the home site of Andrew and Winnie Isley Albright.  Additionally, Andrew, the husband of Winnie, probably died between 1870 and 1880.

vii. Daniel Isley, born Abt. 1819 in Orange County, North Carolina; died Bet. 1880 - 1900; married Elizabeth Tamer Loy; born Abt. 1828 in Orange County, North Carolina; died Aft. 1900.

Notes for Elizabeth Tamer Loy:
Elizabeth was enumerated as a widow in 1900 in Coble township. Her birth date was shown to be July 1831. She had had 11 children and 7 were alive at the time. Son Thomas C., age 30, was living with her.

viii. Elizabeth Isley, born June 10, 1821; died March 03, 1897; married Major Johnson; born April 28, 1817; died January 30, 1863. Both are buried at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, Alamance County, North Carolina.

ix. Philip Isley, born May 04, 1824; died November 15, 1904; married Mary C. Sharp October 02, 1847 in Orange County, North Carolina (marriage bond); born Abt. 1827; died Bet. 1910 - 1920. Both are buried at Mt Hermon United Methodist Church, Alamance County, North Carolina.

Notes for Philip Isley from Rex Isley:
Philip was born 4 May 1824, died 15 November 1904 , and is buried at Mount Hermon.  His father, Martin, served as bondsman for Philip`s marriage bond to Mary C. Sharp on 2 October 1847 (Book Two, Orange County Marriage Bonds).  Mary was born in June, 1837, according to the 1900 Census.  Her headstone is unreadable.  She is also buried at Mount Hermon.  They lived just north of Mount Hermon Church on the Mount Hermon Road.  In 1900, both were living with their son Henry M. Isley.  In 1910, Mary C. was still living with Henry.  She was listed in the 1910 Census as a widow, 83 years old.  She was not listed in the 1920 Census.  We can conclude she died between 1910 and 1920
.

28 x. Martin Isley, born Abt. 1828 in Orange County, North Carolina; died Bet. 1880 - 1893 in Alamance County, North Carolina; married Mary "Polly" Coble.
