From The Alamance Gleaner, March 1, 1917: Miss. Mattie Anderson died on 20th of February at the home of her brother, Mr. Eugene Anderson, about two miles North of Haw River. She was a daughter of the late James Anderson. The interment was at Cross Roads church.

He was supposedly raised by his eldest brother Bruce, changing his name in later life to Junius Phillip Hurdle. Married on 22 November 1911 (Winston-Salem, NC) to Orphena Beryl Addie Collins, who was born 23 March 1889 (Toronto, Canada) and died 16 March 1926 (Winston-Salem, NC) of bronchial pneumonia, the result of complications of an automobile accident. She was the daughter of James Wilkinson Collins and Orphena Moriah (Lawson) Collins. Both Junius and Beryl are buried in Salem Cemetery, Winston?Salem. Junius was a real estate salesman and insurance agent.

Notes from Rex Isley: Malachi was one of the founders of St Paul`s Lutheran Church. Martin (senior) became a Methodist. To the best of my knowledge, all his children were Methodist. Many of the headstones at Mt Hermon are missing. I would suspect that Martin is buried at Mt Hermon with his father and brothers/sister. After the death of Martin the elder, Martin the younger probably lived in his Father`s house which was in Albright Township. In 1880, Martin was living in Newlin Township (Catherine was no longer living). After his mother`s death, the children probably sold the house and Martin had to move. Also during that period, our family lost much of the land it had owned prior to the war due to Yankee taxes. Ergo, I would expect to find Martin in a Methodist Cemetery someplace between Mt Hermon and Graham, if he is not buried at Mt Hermon with no headstone.
There is an 1893 map of Alamance County. This map shows where the prominent farmers lived. Martin is not shown on the map indicating to me that he was dead by that time. In 1900, wife Mary "Polly" was listed as head of household in the census and was shown as a widow. At that time she had had 10 children and 7 were still living. Her daughter Winnie Maragaret and grand children Dora A. and Thomas H. were also living with her.

Celia Hill McPherson was a widow when she and Thomas married. Hill is believed to have been her maiden name. The 1880 census listed her as a widow. She had two sisters and a nephew living with her at the time. They all had the surname of HILL. She died 1900-1910; Thomas was a widow in 1910.
