Asim as The Dark Cypher
Asim is the main charater of Darkholme's Paradise. Despite the way that he looks in this picture, he is really a nice guy. Let me explain... Asim is a man who operates within extremes. As he goes through his troubles, he grows, for better or worse. His problem is, all of existense responds to him... animals, the weather, the stars, etc. Asims fights a battle we all fight. It is between his higher self and his lower self. His higher self manifests from his right hand and his lower self from his left hand. He tries to keep a balance, because that balance is what makes us human... but sometimes, when the scales are totally even, all it takes is the smallest disturbance to make one side heavier than the other. In this case (see picture to the left), the lower self won out and transformed him into this. Notice that he has six black and red wings. The wings of my characters represent the mindstates they are in when they are manifested. Asim is a powerful person, as we all are, who doesn't yet understand that power and doesn't know what to do with it. His character represents the Cypher (0), which is basically everything and nothing, simultaneously.
Tariq
Tariq is one of my favorite characters simply because he is so passionate about every-thing. He doesn't hold back. He has a very strong sense of right and wrong, and is a pretty good guy overall. Problem is, in society, the boundaries between what is good and what is evil is often so blurred that we don't even realize when we've passed from one to the other. Tariq is a man who not only acknowledges his emotions, be lives by them and let them drive his every move. We all know someone like that. Problem with this is, if a man reacts with emotion and no thought, he causes harm to no only himself, but to everyone else around him. This is the lesson his character teaches... the flames of passion ofter burn out of control if not contained and tempered. Always seek to know and understand those things that you are passionate about... that way, you'll get the most out of it.
Tariq represents the number 6, which means Justice and Equality. Wait 'til you see what it is that he is turning into in this picture...
