The Danish Final was held at the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen on February 28th, hosted by Jørgen Mylius. The 10 songs were reduced to 5 finalists before the winner was chosen by 5 regional juries.

Drengene previously came 4th in the 1982 Danish Final & 3rd in 1986 (as Fenders). They renamed themselves Bandjo for the ESC, where they and Anne Cathrine came equal 5th. Kirsten Siggaard was half of the duo Kirsten & Søren who represented Denmark in ESC 1984 & 1985. Dario Campeotto represented Denmark in ESC 1961 while Tommy Seebach represented Denmark in ESC 1979 & 1981.
