"Hold me now" - Johnny Logan
The Irish Final was held on March 8th at The Gaiety Theatre in Dublin, hosted by Marty Whelan & Maxi (who represented Ireland in ESC 1973 & 1981). The winning song was chosen by the votes of an "expert" jury, one of whom was Linda Martin who represented Ireland in ESC 1984.

Johnny Logan previously won ESC 1980, as well as participating in the 1979 Irish Final. He went on to win the 1987 ESC.
