Successful Singleness

I want to discuss look at an issue facing many young people today. It is one area that can affect us for the rest of our lives, either making us happy, or very unhappy! It’s about youth and relationships. Not just any kind of relationships. But one-on-one, dating relationships.

Our key text: “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.” Proverbs 23:26.

What is the context of this verse? Notice what the verses after it say: “For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. She also lieth in wait as for a prey, and increaseth the transgressors among men.” Proverbs 23:27, 28.

What does the word “for” in verse 27 mean? It is referring to what was said previously. The reason that this counsel was given was for protection against evil. Against the sin of adultery. And against relationship traps. If we do verse 26 says, we won’t fall into the problem of verses 27 & 28.

Part of giving God our heart is to let Him guide us in the choices we make in life. Naturally, that includes the friends we have, and the relationships we get into.
