Perfect Love
One love lies in the roses
Another among the thorns
And before another flower blooms
Another will be born.
But flowers wilt
And thorns decay
By the tides
They pass away
Fires that burn
Long in the night
Shining stars
That give no light
All that is and all that's known
When your heart stands all alone
Don't give up, no not yet
Love, I bid you, rest your head
Upon pillows of moon and cloud
Fall into the night dark shroud
Have no worries, have no cares
Dream not demons in their lairs
When you wake up in the night
When you feel the nightmare fright
When you wake I'll be there
And I'll run my fingers through your hair
I'll speak softly, "Love ease your mind."
And whisper to you, all is fine
So when you drift back into dreams
All will be just as it seems
I'll lay down next to you
And kiss your lips like lovers do
For I am yours and you are mine
I'll love you for all time
Until shadow takes my breath
And my body's draped in death
Who beckons and calls to take my soul
The darkness opens to swallow me whole
God will save me from Hell's door
As I cast my demons on the floor
I take your hand, sweet seraphim
Angel whom my love dwells in
And here we'll stay in love forever
In this place of no never
On this bed we'll just lie
And let the world pass us by.
