"Ummm, hello?" she answered hesitantly.
"Brian was in an accident." Peter said.
"No way, you're kidding!" Amanda said with tears in her eyes.
"No I'm not kidding." -P
"Is he okay?"-A
"Yeah, he was lucky. 3 broken ribs, and a broken collar bone."-P
"Can I talk to him?"-A
"No, they won't let me in."-P
"Can you get me a plane as soon as possible?"-A
"Yeah, It'll be there in an hour."-P
"Okay. Thanks so much Pete. I'll see ya when I get there." she said
hanging up.
She wiped the tears from her eyes, then ran upstairs. She grabbed her
purse and car keys with a pair of jeans and another of Brian's hoodies.
Put on her flip flops and ran out to her car.
She drove to the airport and got right on the plane. She got to the
airport by the track 2hrs later. Peter was waiting for her. She got in
the car, and they drove to the hospital in silence.
Peter told her what room he was in and she ran right in. The doctor
who was standing at Brian's bed stared at her," Young lady, you are not
permitted to be in here!" he yelled. "This is my boyfriend and baby's
father. I think that permits me to be in here!" she said as Brian
smiled at her. "Hey baby," she said ignoring the doctor's stares. "Hi
honey," he answered. "When I told you to call me when you were done I
didnt mean you had to hurry. I'm not going anywhere."she told him. "I
wasn't hurrying, I went into the corner wayyyyy too hard. The guys tried
to tell me to loosen up a little, but I didn't listen." he explained.
"Oh, that sounds like something you'd do." she said smiling. "So how ya
feeling honey?" he asked. "I'm okay, I just keep getting pains, but
I'm good. How are you feeling?" she asked. "Better now that you're here,
but sore." he answered. "Aww,"Amanda said holding his hand. "Is this
what you missed?" she added. "Yeah, I missed more than that though," he
said. "Like this," she said giving him a kiss. "Exactly," he said
smiling. "I get to go home tomorrow," he added. "That's good." Amanda
answered. "I can't race for 4 weeks though!" he told her. "Do you still
wanna go to them?" Amanda asked. "Yeah, but if I do, you know I'm
gonna be pissed the whole time that I can't be out there," he explained.
"I know, I just thought I'd ask." she answered. Amanda climbed in the
bed with Brian carefully and they fell asleep.
.....the next day.....
They got up just as the doctor came in to tell Brian that he could go
home. Brian got up slowly and got dressed. Then hand-in-hand they
walked out of the hospital and to Petes's car. They drove to the airport.
~Home~
They laid down on the couch and watched 8 Mile and some other movies
until the phone rang.
"Hello?" Amanda said answering.
"Alright thanks," she finished hanging up.
"The little yorkshire terrier is ready. " she added. "Okay, you wanna
go get her?" Brian asked. "I'll have Chris go get her." she said.
"You're so spoiled, its tragic if you leave the house by yourself,"
Brian snapped. "Honey, for real, stop with your attitude. You're being
such a dick today, what is your problem?" Amanda said. "Jamie told me
some stuff yesterday before I went out on the track." Brian started.
"What did he tell you?"she asked. "That he saw you hang all over Kasey
after he was out of the race." he told her. "How would Jamie know?" she
asked. "Because he was out too." he answered. "I never hung all over
him. Why would I when you're the best thing thats ever happened to me?"
she asked. "Jamie tried to tell me not to rush into this," he said. "I
don't know, but I think you would," he added. "Brian, I can't believe
you don't trust me. I love you more than anything." she said crying.
"I don't want to believe Jamie, but I don't think he'd lie to me."he
said. "And you'd believe him before me?" she asked. "I've known him
longer, so yeah," he answered. Amanda stormed out of the room and ran
into their room crying. Maggie and Destiny followed.
She took her other notebook out of her nightstand and wrote:

She put it away just as Brian walked in.
"Honey, I found this on the coffee table, I didn't know you really
felt this strongly about me."he said handing her the notebook. "Well I
do, not that it matters to you anyway." she said wiping tears from her
eyes. "It does matter though baby. If I lost you, I could never live
with myself. You are the love of my life, I can't live without you." he
said wiping a tear from Amanda's cheek. "I love you," he added. "I
love you too,"she answered resting her head on his good shoulder. "I
realize I have been a dick to you today, and I'm sorry." he apoplogized.
"He's just jealous that I have you, and he doesn't," Brian added kissing
her forehead.
"Well, do you wanna go get that puppy?" she asked. "Sure," Brian
answered. She grabbed her keys and they went to the car. They drove to
the breeder gave him the 300 dollars and she rode on Amanda's lap on the
way home. They got her home and decided to name her 'Elmo'. Amanda
put the diamond studded collar on her and let her explore.
Brian picked up the phone and called Jamie. Jamie picked up.
"Hello?" he answered.
"Hey Jamie." Brian said.
"Hey bud, how ya feeling?"-J
"Alright, better now that I'm home,"-B
"But aren't you too sore for that?"-J
"Yeah, besides thats already done,"-B
"Woah man, you mean....?"-J
"Yeah, the 2nd day."-B
"What a slut."-J
"Hey man, thats my girlfriend and my girl carrying my baby you're
talking about."-B
"So, dude what you guys are doing is barely legal."- J
"So, its only 2 years and we're meant for each other."-B
"What's everyone else think about it?"-J
"Nobody else really knows about that part,"-B
"Oh, you afraid you gonna lose fans?"-J
"No, I just don't want the media all over the youngest guy in nextel
cup to be a father. That just doesn't even sound right. I just don't
want that, Pete doesn't even kno. My mom, her agent, PA and you know,
thats about it."-B
"But what happens when she starts to show?"-J
"Then we tell, but we have at least a month before she starts to
show."-B
"Then hopefully nobody finds out she got pregnant the day after you
met. You don't want her to be considered a slut."-J
"I know."-B
"Dude, you guys are screwed when she starts to show,"-J
"Yeah, but the reason I called is are you sure it was Amanda and
Kasey?"-B
"No, I was just joking. I know how pissed you got whne she hugged
him."-J
"Dude, thats so not funny, we just got in a huge fight over it."-B
"Damn, you weren't suppose to say anything to her about it."-J
"Well guess what I did." Brian said hanging up.
"Brian!!!" Amanda yelled from the living room. "What?" he asked
running in. "Come watch this movie with me, please."she said. "Alright,"
he said laying down beside her.
