***Two weeks later***
"Good morning beautiful" Brian said planting soft kisses on Manda's neck. She stretched her arms and wrapped them around Bri, "good mornin". Mandy ran her nails across Brian's bare back. He sighed as he placed his head on Manda's chest "I can't believe we leave for Daytona today" he said happily. "I know baby, you are gonna rock in the 500" Manda said in a soothing voice. For the last 2 weeks Brian had been frantic about racing in the Daytona 500, Mandy had been there for every time he freaked out. She would calm him down and tell him how great he was going to be.
After they gathered everything they needed, showered and ate, the headed to the airport for the ride on the Hendricks plane. When they arrived Jimmie Johnson was already on the plane. "hey bud" Jimmie said sticking his hand out. Brian shook it and quickly turned to face me "Jimmie this is my girlfriend Amanda" he said. Amanda shook Jimmie's hand as her mind drifted, "girlfriend?" she thought "he hasn't ever called me that". She smiled at how good that sounded.........
The plane started to take off, he knew how much Manda hated to fly so he grabbed her hand and squeezed. It was his silent way of telling her everything would be ok, she took a deep breath and relaxed a little. The flight only took a little longer than 3 hours. Brian and Amanda sat and chatted with Jimmie and his girlfriend, Chandra, about everything. The guys would chat about the track while Manda and Chandra chatted about other girlie things.
When the plane landed they all decided to go get some lunch and then head over to the track. After lunch the four of them hopped into the Tahoe that Brian had rented for speedweeks and headed towards the track.
Once there Brian dropped off Jimmie and Chandra and headed over to Brians motorcoach. Manda and Bri grabbed the bags that they had from the back of the truck and scurried inside. They unpacked some of their clothes and Brian decided he needed to go find Peter, his brew cheif, and the rest of his crew. "You wanna come?" he asked before he headed out the door. "Naw" Mandy answered "I think im gonna take a quick nap". Brian nodded and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. She watched as he walked down the coach road toward the garage area.
Amanda woke up to the sound of someone pounding on the door. She groggily walked towards the door of the coach. She opened it and almost gasped "Um hi" she said staring at the man in front of her. "Hi, is Brian here?" he asked curiously. "No he went down to the garages" Mandy answered, running her fingers through her hair trying to straighten the bed head he was almost sure she had. "You must be Brian's girl" he said putting his hand out "yeah" Manda answered "Im Amanda" she grabbed his hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you, Im Jeff Gordon". He flashed her a smile and excused himself "Im going to go and try to find Brian" with a quick good bye he was off.
Mandy decided that she would wander down to the garages and find Brian. She slid on her tennis shoes and left the coach, making sure to lock it behind her. Amanda looked around as she walked through the garages. She saw many familiar faces, some of the guys didn't look too happy.
Amanda was startled when someone wrapped their arms around her neck. "Hey you" the voice she knew all to well said. Brian lightly kissed her on the cheek. Amanda smiled as she rubbed Brian's hand. "How's is everything?" she asked curiously. "Great, first practice is tomorrow, I can't wait" he answered excitedly. Amanda smiled, she loved how Brian would act so boyish sometimes. He grabbed her hand and drug her towards his garage. "Hey Peter" Brian said walking towards the man who was holding a clipboard in his hand "This is my girlfriend Amanda, Amanda that's peter" Mandy shook his hand and smiled as he asked her how she was liking Daytona so far. "It's cool, I have been here a few times, but never in the garages" she answered laughing.
Brian continued to introduce her to people, they ran into Jeff on their way back to the coach. "Hey dude there you are" Jeff said "Hey" Brian said smiling. "Jeff this is...." Brian started to say before he was cut off "we've met" Jeff and Amanda said in unison. "Oh" he said giving me a look. He and Jeff chatted a few minutes before he invited Brian and Amanda to his place for dinner. "Jimmie and Chandra are coming too" Jeff said. Brian agreed and said his good byes. They walked back to the coach to shower and get dressed for dinner.
