Brian spent the whole weekend checking in with Mandy�s parents and making sure that everyone on his team knew that if he was in the car and his phone rang that someone MUST answer it.
The weekend dredged by, on Sunday Brian couldn�t get his head in the race. The engine blew on lap 148, he had never been more relieved in his life.
He parked the car and waited as the crew gave it a once over. There was nothing they could do so Brian decided that he would go home. He called and booked the first flight he could, making sure he let Rick know that he wasn�t flying home with Jeff and Jimmie.
Brian didn�t even go home first, he knew that he needed to be at the hospital.
He pulled into the parking lot and make his way into the hospital. He parked his car and walked briskly through the doors.
He exited the elevator and walked past the nurses station, waving to the nurse. �Mr. Vickers� the nurse said, calling after him. Brian haulted in his tracks and turned to face the woman. She walked up �Ms. Nichols has been moved� the nurse said. Brian was shocked, so many thoughts ran through his head. �Is she ok?� was all he could ask. �Yes, she is fine. Still out but they had to move her out of ICU�. The nurse told Brian where to find Manda.
He got back on the elevator and pushed the correct button to her floor. He got out and walked down the halls, searching for the room number the nurse had given him.
He found it, he waited outside for a minute, trying to compose himself. He tried to remember how she had looked before, so he wouldn�t be so shocked.
Brian slowly pushed open the door. The room was empty except for a sleeping Mandy. He walked over to the side of the bed and took her hand.
Brian was shocked when he felt it move a little. �Mandy� he said, kneeling down next to her. Her eyes fluttered �Mandy, please wake up its me, Bri� he whispered, tears forming at the corner of his eyes.
Mandy slowly opened her eyes, squinting as she tried to adjust to the light. �Oh my god� he said, pushing the nurse buzzer several times.
Mandy looked up at him, confused �Bri, whats going on?� she asked, taking in her surroundings. �Baby, you were in a car accident. Oh my god youre awake� he said, the tears falling freely now. The nurse ran in and saw that Manda was awake. She quickly dialed the Doctor and told him what was going on.
Brian ran his hand across her face, �I love you Manda.� Mandy let out a soft sigh �I love you too Brian�.
