| Chapter 10 So, have you talked to Danny? Kasey asked, taking a bite of his spaghetti. Kat nodded yes but didnt elaborate. Well? Kasey asked, wanting to know what happened. I dont want to talk about it now, we can do that when we get back to my place she said, avoiding eye contact with him. I hope this isnt bad he said to himself. Again, the ride back to Kats house was silent, much like the ride to the restaurant. Kasey watched Kat from the corner of his eye. She was playing with her bracelet, which Kasey had come to learn was a nervous trait of hers. Kasey was really nervous, the way she was acting the conversation tonight would be really bad, something Kasey didnt want. Pulling into the driveway, Kasey sighed. Kat looked over at him, thinking about how awkward their night had been, the silences, the lack of eye contact. She knew that there was only one way the awkwardness between them would go away and she was afraid she wouldnt be able to do it. Kasey got out of his rental and opened the door for Kat, even though he thought she was about to brush him off he wasnt about to not be a gentleman. Kasey followed behind her as she walked to the house. Unlocking the door, she kicked off her shoes and dropped her purse on the table by the door. Kasey walked into the living room and sat down on the couch, waiting patiently as Kat went to the kitchen to get a bottle of water. When she returned he was thumbing through a photo album. You two were pretty close, huh? Kasey asked, looking at pictures of Kat and Danny, and suddenly feeling extremely guilty. Kat nodded yes, watching as Kasey continued flipping through the album. She walked across the room and sat down next to him, resting her elbow on the back of the couch she played with the collar of his shirt. Kase? she said quietly. He placed the book back where he got it from and turned to face her. What do you want to happen? she asked. Kasey thought for a moment before he answered. Leaning in close to her he whispered everything before lightly brushing his lips against hers. Kat smiled inwardly as Kasey kissed her, but she knew she still needed to tell him about Danny. When he backed away he saw the look of frustration in her eyes, even though she was smiling. What is it? he asked, his heart sinking at the thought of her saying she was going back to Danny. Laying her head back on the couch she sighed and then began to speak. I talked to Danny today and it cant be saved. I tried to talk but all he wanted to do was call me names. I cant do it anymore Kasey, I dont need to be called a slut everyday of my life she said. Kasey sighed and wrapped his arms around her, half expecting her to pull away. He was almost relieved when she didnt; instead she wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his chest. Kasey smiled, rubbing her back with his hand. Well, what does this mean for us? he asked, hoping her answer would be one he wanted to hear. She looked up at him, her green eyes showing promise for Kasey. He watched as she contemplated her response, smirking she leaned in to him everything she said kissing him. Kasey laughed at her imitation of him and leaned into the kiss. BACK HOME NEXT |
