Journals / Diarios

At the beginning of the school year, the children started out their journals by drawing pictures and dictating their story to me. I would write the words for them in English and then in Spanish. They later started to copy Spanish words from the wordwall and from our books. Now, the children copy a starter sentence such as "I see a______." or "I have a ________." and then look for words around the room to fill in the space on their own. They then draw a picture related to their sentences and when they are finished, they come to read them to me. I can see that they have learned a lot of Spanish vocabulary since the beginning of the year!

Al principio del a�o escolar, los ni�os comenzaron sus diarios con dibujos. Me dictaban sus cuentos y yo escrib�a sus palabras en ingl�s y en espa�ol. Despu�s comenzaron a copiar palabras en espa�ol de la pared de palabras y de los libros. Ahora, los ni�os copian una oraci�n como, "Yo veo un_________." � "Yo tengo un ________." y luego buscan palabras en el sal�n para llenar el espacio. Luego hacen un dibujo que se relaciona con sus oraciones y cuando terminan, vienen conmigo y me los leen. �Veo que han aprendido mucho vocabulario en espa�ol desde el principio del a�o!
