| Herbs are among the easiest of plants to grow. With only a few exceptions they prefer full sunlight and well drained soil. They can tolerate shade and damp soil as well. They are not particularly prone to dieseases and are very hardy even during drought. Many are annuals but some are perrienial and can even survive mild winters. Some of what is used in witchcraft and medicine may not all fall into the taxinomic catagory of "herbs" although they have similair uses and symbolism. These will have different horticultural properties and I've noted this in thier entries, most are berry bushes and common crops. Trees are listed all by themselves, as thier nature is somewhat different from herbs and the like. There are medicinal and ritual uses for herbs. There is also a great deal of symbolism in certain plants that has great meaning in the scheme of things but little to do with magic specifically. I have listed here the numerous herbs that I know of, thier medicine purpose and ritual or symbolic nature. Also any special methods of propagation. PS Sorry for the incomplete pages!! |
