| Moms Legacy of Faith and Life
Written in her own hand as follows: "I, too was brought up in a Christian home, as Willard told us a few Sundays ago, there was never any questions as to where we would go for a weekend. I knew the Sabbath was Gods Day and we would spend the bigger part of it in His house. My parents handed down to me a great heritage. That abiding faith that can only come by prayer and dedication. Both my parents were truly dedicated Christians. I like many others here have had my share of tragedy. Prayer and faith saw me through all of them. I only hope that I have instilled some of my faith in my children. The rewards of living a Christian life most of the time is a peace within ourselves. We dont always receive visible awards, but peace of mind is the greatest reward we can have. I wouldnt know what to do if the Lord wasnt walking by my side each day. Jesus did not promise us a life of ease, or devoid of problems, but he did promise a full, rich, meaningful, abundant life. A life that experiences joy from surmounting and facing difficulties. God faced these difficulties with me in a faith and confidence that God alone supplies us." _______________________________ Sues greatest desire, written by her own hand for her homegoing was, I hope to leave a heritage to my children, grandchildren, family and friends of FAITH in Jesus and love and trust in others. Sue mentioned in her writings, she had learned that when she departed this life, material possessions bequeathed were not important for she had few. She wrote, if not a cent I still have, I still feel my time on earth was well and rightly spent in leaving an inheritance of Faith in Jesus and Love for all. Her greatest prayer was that all her family would receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior and follow her to the glorious heavenly home Jesus has prepared for all who believe in Him. She prayed this daily for all her family, friends and loved ones. |

A Living Lasting Legacy Vol 2 No 82 Tim 1:5 May 2007 What is the mark, the legacy you will leave in this world? Sometimes we dont think the way we live matters. Mothers Day, Memorial Day and Fathers Day remind us of those who have impacted our lives. We all leave an influence on others livesit doesnt matter whether we are young, mid-aged or seniors. Heb 12:12-13 tells us--take a new grip, a stand firm. Mark a straight path for our feet. Then those who follow you, though they are weak will not stumble and fall but will become strong. We live in a fast moving, changing world full of triumphs and tragedies. None of us can perceive what the future holds. We can give those who are going forth into that ever changing world, an example of faith that will plant a seed for their faith to see them through into Heavens Eternity. What would you like to leave as a legacy to your family and friends? Most of us would think of beneficial qualities that help us live a better life An Enduring Faith Inspiring Words Useful Skills A Giving Spirit Principles for Life An Inheritance A Compassionate Heart Lessons of Living A Successful Wisdom All of these things are commendable. We can give our body to science through a living will. Yet those body parts will wear out eventually in a future time. We can give our fortune but it will soon be used up and forgotten. What can we share now that will be an eternal living legacy down through the ages from generation to generation which can be received and given again? We can be: Salt Light Aroma of Christ A Letter of Christ Its not something we can do on our own. God gives us His grace and strength to become mentors of His legacy. Our Legacy from God, Our Heavenly Father is Jesus as the Way, Truth and Life. How we live our lives lays down a legacy. Many is the failed criminal or drug addict who lays the blame on parents. However none of us can be a perfect parent, grandparent, etc. We are all imperfect persons until that day we meet Jesus when we shall behold Him and be transformed completely into His likeness. We are being changed as we yield to His work within us-- to allow His Spirit to work in us and help us. (phil 2:13; 4:13). Our own life example will be imperfect for we are growing, maturing in Christ. Its not about me or you, its about Jesus the Eternal Perfect One. So what is the legacy you and I are leaving? The mark we are making in this world? Is it a legacy that will prompt others to follow Jesus? To know the One who can give them Love, Joy, Peace and Eternal Life? Thats the only LASTING LEGACY we can leave as a LIVING LEGACY that goes on and on to the generations following us. For Christ is ETERNAL and to give Him as our legacy can never be destroyed or taken from those who come after us. Can you and I say, Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ?(I Cor 11:1) Jesus is our example to follow in leaving a Living Legacy (Jn 14:6). There is no richer more lasting legacy than living a life that leads others to Jesus for their eternal life. To do that we need to Know Jesus. If you know Jesus as Lord and Savior, walk close beside Him and He will give you the grace to be a living legacy. If you dont, you can know Him right now. Rev 3:20 says He is waiting at your hearts door, open it and ask Him to come in and live with and in you. Theres no richer deeper life than with Jesus by your side, as Your Shepherd in this life and Heavenly King for all eternity! So give yourself to Jesus and live a life that brings others to His Eternal Loving Life. Youll be rejoicing with Jesus when you welcome those you loved, and others who come after you into His Glorious Presence in heaven A Living Lasting Legacy. May we pause in memory and thanks to God for those who have gone on before us and those who have given their lives for our countrys freedom from tyranny? Remember Christ who gave His life for your freedom from sin and for abundant eternal life- Jesus Alive, ever interceding for you until He welcomes you into His eternal Kingdom. [email protected] P.O. | OUR LEGACY Little did I know when I wrote this newsletter in May that Mom's legacy would so soon be passing down to me. Now I must take up that baton, that legacy and carry it on until Jesus calls me HOME. I pray at that time I will be able to hear His Words, "Welcome Home good and faithful servant." However I have alot of work to do. I can't fill Mom's shoes, even though they too were imperfect until she reached heaven and Jesus Presence to become like Him. As Robert A Schuller has been saying in His book and messages of late, we must "WALK IN OUR OWN SHOES." Even so, each one of us has the responsibility to carry on the faith legacy of those gone on before us. We can only do it in our own individual way according to the Gifts and Talents the Lord has given us. Yes we must walk in our own shoes, but they need to follow after our Lord and Master--JESUS footprints. Can we do it? Truly not of ourselves but as God works in us both to will and do His good pleasure we can do all things thru Christ in His strength and GRACE WHAT IS THE LEGACY YOU WANT TO LEAVE FOR OTHERS TO FOLLOW? LET'S GIVE OUR LOVED ONES A CHALLENGING LEGACY OF LOVE OF LIFE AND FAITH!! My Mom gave that to me and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Let's WALK IN OUR OWN SHOES, but FOLLOW JESUS and give the gift of a legacy of Love of Life and faith to those walking after us. |
