Assam - the land where you find flowers that are exquisitely beautiful, animals that are
rare, and a people that are proud and inviting.
The orchid is Assam's most celebrated flower, the most famous being the Kopou
Ful, a Vandaceous Orchid . This orchid grows widely across Assam and is worn by young women on their hair during
the spring festival of Assam, Rongali Bihu and is symbolic of youth and renewal.
Bihu is the national festival of Assam. The principal of the three Bihus,
Bohag or Rongali Bihu ushers in the Assamese New Year, in the middle of April,
and is celebrated with distinctive Bihu dances and songs.
To compress all about Assam in a single page is
impossible. Nevertheless, I have tried to present some
shades from the multi colored layers of Assam.

TEZPUR - My Native Place
This is the place where I was born. To me Tezpur is Heaven.
I have visited many places across the
length and breadth of India. But the joy
of returning back home is something I cannot describe. I belong to my roots - in
Tezpur.

Kaziranga - National Wildlife Sanctuary
The one horned rhinoceros is the pride of Assam and Kaziranga is the natural habitat
of these rhinoceros. Manas is another National Sanctuary but it is Kaziranga which
is more well known.

Historical Structures
During the Moghul rule, Assam was one of the last few states to
capitulate before the might of Aurangzeb. At that time Assam was ruled by the Ahom Kings, whose legacy is
still alive in the structures that they have built.
