I first heard Melissa on the "Spirit of '73: Rock
For Choice" benefit album. The year (anniversary of the
Supreme Court legalizing abortion) didn't mean anything to me at
the time. Sorry. I just bought it because it had a Johnette Napolitano
song on it. I liked the sound of Melissa's voice so I bought
"Willing To Wait" and have enjoyed most of her albums ever since.
Melissa formed Right On Records
to record and distribute her own music.
I saw my first live show on November 11th,
2001 at the Handlebar
in Greenville, SC. I have seen her a few times since that first show and the shows have always been very high energy.
