Day 5 - Thurs. January 1 2004
We kicked off the brand new year bright and early...4:30 am to be exact. Yea. We had to be showered and ready to go by 5:30 for Gatorbowl practices, therefore we got our wonderful wake-up call at 4:30. It was rough, considering the signifigant lack of sleep from the night before...we were all wound up after the dance, on the bus ride back, Paul Weber randomly stood up and said "Chocolate Chip Waffles!!" in this weird voice, and it was hillarious...we got to the hotel around 1 am, and then we had trouble sleeping since our toilet was making funny noises. Megan made me get up at like 1:30 to check it...and it was flooding! Then I tripped on Rachel's suitcase on the way back to bed and landed face first on Megan's feet. So those mean Toyota Gatorbowl poeple succeeded in dragging over 1,000 poor high school kids out of bed and throwing them onto the Intel stadium for early morning rehersals. The stadium was amazing...biggest one I've been in in my life! Couldn't believe that it would be filled to capacity in a few hours. Rehersals went ok...considering we were zombies and everyone forgot where they were the day before...and etc. Everyone was in their own school marching band uniforms, and together we looked like a giant rainbow...pretty cool. So after the rehersals, we got our seats for the Gatorbowl...we had AMAZING seats! We sat in the very front row behind the WV endzone. Pretty cool considering I hate football. We had to wait to get lunch since nothing was open yet, so we watched a dance troupe, army people, and a singer rehearse pre-game and half time. When the concessions finally opened, we got some grub. I ate with Katie and Brian...Katie and I got normal hot dogs, and Brian got this like 1-pound hot dog...crazy! Then we stood around for a while, watching Mike and Rob blow up beach balls for the halftime show (Beach Boys theme...) it was surprisingly entertaining. During pre-game, Katie, Brian and I went to the bathroom, and as Katie and I were waiting for Brian, there was a military fly-by...and Katie and I didnt know what it was, so we screamed and ducked in the middle of this bar...people thought we were insane! Then the game finally started. I decided to cheer for Maryland, since their mascot was cuter than a hick with a firearm. Not that I actually cheered or anything. The half-time show went ok. We messed up the 2nd song real bad...we were a measure ahead of the the singers...but whatever. Other than that it was ok. Then I spent the rest of the game with some of my girls...Katie, Kelly and Robyn. Besides some...ahem...confrontations, we had a good time I guess. We went back to our hotel after the game...and our room wasn't cleaned! It smelled so gross from the accumilating dirty towels (there were a lot since we had 5 girls in our room) and we were MAD. We were still exhausted, but left shortly after to go to dinner at a pizza place nearby. I sat with Bryan W. and talked to him a bit. He's a real sweet kid. :) Then we headed off to Tinseltown USA to see a flick. We could see whatever we wanted except LOTR...which was exactly what I wanted to see. So I ended up seeing 'Stuck on You' which was...eh...ok. I really wanted to see 'Cold Mountain', but the only one who ended up seeing that was Emert...so yea...I went with my friends. We hung around the arcade while waiting for everyone to finish their flicks. We watched Nick try his hand at a shooting range game, and then Megan, Robyn and I took some CRAZY pics in a photobooth. Oh geez...these were just the beginning of our hillarious pics from the trip...LOL. We finally got to go to bed ater all this! Which was great...because I was insanely tired! |
