One Ring to rule em all. Kata-kata
hikmat yang membawa kepada permulaan trilogi novel J.R.R. Tolkien, The
Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring (The Fellowship).
Saya sangat meminati The Fellowship semenjak mula menontonnya
di pawagam. Pujian menggunung telah diberikan oleh ramai pengkritik filem
seluruh dunia sebagai sebuah filem terbaik. Saya tidak membaca novelnya
jadi tidak tahu sejauh mana cerita asalnya dipindahkan ke filem. Walau
bagaimanapun, filem epik ini benar-benar mantap. Cuma kesinambungan yang
perlu antara The Fellowship dan sambungannya, The Two Towers, memerlukan
akhiran cerita yang kurang menarik. Sudah tentu ramai peminat sedang tertunggu-tunggu
sambungan filem ini sejak mula habis menontonnya.
Persembahan The Fellowship dalam DVD ini memang memuaskan.
Oleh kerana perlu menjaga kualiti video sepanjang kira-kira 178 minit
yang dimuatkan dalam satu cakera, hanya 2 audio disediakan iaitu Dolby
Digital 5.1 dan Dolby Surround 2.0. Keindahan Middle-earth berjaya dipersembahkan
dengan baik dengan kesan khas yang sudah semestinya mendebarkan.
Special Features dalam cakera kedua menampilkan video yang
sudah dipertontonkan kepada umum. Video dalam loroftherings.net featurettes
disiarkan di laman web tersebut. Video terbaru ialah Behind-The-Scenes
Preview of The Two Towers, Preview of EA's Video Game The Two Towers dan
An Inside Look at the Special Extended DVD Edition of The Fellowship.
Secara keseluruhan, memuaskan.
Kekuatan The Fellowship sebagai filem terbaik menjadikan DVD
ini sebagai yang wajib dimiliki. Kepada peminat The Lord of the Rings,
the Special Extended DVD Edition yang mengandungi 4 cakera, 30 minit tambahan
kepada filem asal dan pelbagai special features sudah semestinya
menjadi koleksi tambahan kepada DVD ini.
