From 1978 until 1981 she studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Antwerp (Belgium), where she still lives and works. Her partiality for figurative art often collided with the conceptualism that predominated in the opinions of her professors and fellow students. This intellectual and theoretical approach to art had a crippling effect on her ability to paint. It took her a few years to disparage her art education and to find her own way into an art that is both primitive and sophisticated.
