The judge found that Nabors Drilling violated Section 8(a)(1) and (3) of the Act by discharging Ronald Mike Pearson, Steve Couture, and Frank Anderson for union or protected activity. TEXT Were Nabors workers, the ones who produce the goods that make everything possible, also compensated for their hard work? Did they get raises, better benefits, rewards equitable to that paid to Mr. Isenberg?The judge found, that Nabors Drilling denied nonemployee union organizers access to remote camps during the preelection period, and made certain anti-union comments to employees including the statement that it could find out how employees voted during the NLRB-run election. The judge recommended that the Nov. 1995 election, which the union lost, be set aside and a new election held. TEXT

Eugene M. Isenberg. chairman and CEO of Nabors Industries earned $63.9 million last year. Isenberg's compensation comes strictly through the performance of the company, said Denny Smith, director of corporate development for Nabors Industries. The only way Isenberg can make money is if the value of the company's stock grows through his efforts. Under Isenberg's leadership, the company's net worth is now $2 billion, said Smith. And Nabors' stock price doubled during 2000.

The average roughneck would have to work 965 years to equal what Isenberg made in one year.

Isenberg's salary alone could have paid for:

  • Pension plans for 60,338 workers

  • Or health care coverage for 33,522 workers

    Were Nabors workers, the ones who produce the goods that make everything possible, also compensated for their hard work? Did they get raises, better benefits, rewards equitable to that paid to Mr. Isenberg?

    Is it fair for U.S. companies to move their headquarters offshore to save money? Is it unpatriotic? Somebody's got to pay for this growing U.S. war on terrorism.
