News Release
The Registered Nurses represented by Laborers Local 341 at Alaska Regional Hospital held a ratification vote yesterday, Tuesday, August 13. In an extraordinary turn-out of members the nurses turned down the contract proposed by the Hospital administration by a 05% margin. In a separate ballot 85% authorized a strike.
Negotiations began on May 29th, and
finished on July 18th. The contract would have expired on July 14th, but
was extended until August 14th to allow more time to negotiate. There is
a rally in support of the Alaska Regional Nurses on August 15th between
the hours of 11:30 am and 1:00 pm. Parking is available across the street
at the Anchorage Church of Christ. We plan to negotiate a contract that
is acceptable to the Nurses as soon as possible.
Update on Rally!
On Thursday, the rally had an excellent turnout of Alaska Regional Nurses and members from unions around the state. The Nurses understand where your are now as Nabors employees and have been through this before. It was a long, hard road for them but they have come very far with solidarity. They also obviously know that the fights are never completely over but know that STICKING TOGETHER is the best way to accomplish your goals.
HANG IN THERE ROUGHNECKS!
