| Joey steped out of his car, staring up at the large building that was Cassies apartment. It had been a good three hours since she had walked out of the house, Justin hot on her heels. In between the time that she left and him standing where he was, he had relized how ridclious he had been to accuse Cass of everything. Hadnt she been nothing but a good friend to them ever since the time they had first meet? Now he felt horribly guilty for the accusations he had thrown in her face. He had tryed to call her as soon as the guilt had set in, but she wasnt awnsering her phone. After ten attempts, all with the same lack of result, he had grabed his keys and headed to the apartment. He looked around the parking lot. Parked a few spaces away was Jcs jeep signifying that Justin was still there. He knew that he owed the younger man an appolgy as well. Sighing he walked towards the door and pushed it open. He began going up the stairs, a whistling noise growing louder as he grew closer and closer to his destinition. Finally he stood outside Cassies, the noise comming from inside. Cass? Joey knocked on the door loudly, and to his surprise it immediatly swung open. She NEVER left her door open. NEVER. He entered the room, immediatly making his way to the kitchen. There on the stove the tea pot sat whistling. He took it off quickly and turned off the stove. Cassie? Justin? He walked quickly through the rooms. They werent anywhere. He was scared. They werent in the apartment, the door was left wide open, and the cars were still in the parking lot. What was going on? He began to walk towards the door when he saw something on the floor. He walked over to it and picked it up, his eyes widening when he saw what it was. Cassies neckless. The one that she never took off. He knew the story behind it, as did all the guys. She had gotten it as a gift from her father only a week before he had died. ...and then I promised myself that I would never take it off. This way, I feel hes always with me. She had said solomly as she fingered the delicate chain. Not only was the neckless not around her neck and on the floor, but the clasp on it was broken. Joey immediatly pulled out his cell phone and quickly dialed Jcs familar number. After a few rings it was awnsered. Talk to me. Jace, somethings wrong. |
