*Shelby*

I practically pulled Nick down the hallway to the nursey. I was anxious to see my nephew, but I was worried about when he got older. Would I let him call me mommy or Aunt Shelby? I guess I didn't really have to worry. What was I going to name him? Alea never discussed any names with me A nurse opened the door and escorted us in.

"Cholson baby, right?" the short, pudgy, red headed nurse asked.

"Yeah. How'd you know?" I wondered.

"Your sister looked like you," she answered stopping at a baby with a blue hood on and big blue eyes staring up at me. She picked him up and placed him in my arms.

"He needs a name, hon," she said and walked away. I looked down at him and tried to think of a name.

"How about Dylan?" Nick suggested as we made out was to a row of seats in the corner ofthe room.

"No. He needs a middle name, too," I told him patting the baby's back.

"Hmm..." Nick scratched his head in thought with a strange look on his face. It made me stiffle a laugh and he put an arm around my shoulders. We sat there for ten minutes until I clued Nick in on my toughts about my sister's baby's name.

"Sean Thomas," I uttered looking down at him and stroking his little cheek softly with my index finger.

"Sean Thomas Cholson," Nick put together and smiled. "Perfect!"

"I'll be back, okay? You told him." I stood up and placed Sean in Nick's arms. I went up to the nurse who'd spoken to us before and killed out Sean's birth certificate.

"When can Sean come home because I have to plan two funerals?" I asked her.

"Tomorrow at ten if that's okay."

"Yeah, that' fine, Thank you."

"You're welcome," she said as I made my way back to Nick and Sean who was sleeping.

"Hey," I replied sitting beside my best friend.

"Hey. Look! He's got blond hair and blue eyes like me!" Nick smiled at me and tears flickered in my eyes.

"I know." I let a few trickle down my cheeks and wiped them away quickly.

"Hey." Nick extended his right hand and gently massaged my cheeks.

"It's okay to cry."

"I know," I mumbled as more tears fell and stood up.

"You ready to go?"

"Yeah." He handed Sean over to me and I kissed his forehead before placing him in his small plastic crib. Nick and I walked out of the hospital and took a cab to the hotel.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Two weeks had went by and Shelby was still tryin gto get over the fact that her mother and sister were gone. That she wouldn't wae up and expect to see them. She was trying to be strong. She had to keep everything together. Not let it fall apart.

*Nick*

I heard the faint sound of Sean's crying as I was pouring myself a glass of orange juice. After placing the oj back in the fridge, I jogged upstairs to the nursery. Once we got back from New York two weeks ago, Shelby moved in with me. She said because she didn't want to be alone, but I knew it was because the pain in her heart was too great. She'd come down to my room every night crying and I'd hug her until she she'd fall asleep. I walked into Sean's room and saw Shelby in the rocking chair holding him in her arms trying to get him to calm down. I stood in the doorway and just watched her until she looked up and noticed me.

"Hi," she smiled at me and I stepped over to her.

"Hey." I smiled back. "You wanna go somewhere with me today?"

"What about Sean?"

"He's coming, too!"

"Okay then." Shelby stood up and handed Sean to me. "Will you feed and change him while I hake a shower?"

"Yeah." I took Sean downstairs as Shelby went into her room.   I was sitting in a chair in the living room watching t.v. feeding Sean a bottle when Shelby walked into room freshly showered.

"I'm ready if you are," she said sitting on the couch.

"Well, you finish feeding Sean his bottle and I'll go put some shoes on." Shelby took Sean from me and I ran upstairs. She had no idea I was taking her shopping to get Sean clothes and I was going to buy her a dress. I had reservations for 7:00 at Tarom's and Brain and Leighanne were going to watch Sean. I wanted my best friend to be happy again. She deserved all the happiness in the world. If only I could tell her the joy she brought to my life. How much I loved her. It wasn't really the right time since Karen and Alea died and then Shelby having to care for Sean. Her life was hectic ecspecially while juggling a music career!

***********************************************************************************************

In no time we were at the mall and I drug to an all baby store. She looked up at me and then down at Sean.

"What are we doing here?" she asked.

"We're going to buy Sean some more clothes and stuff!" I told her.

"Nick..."

"Don't." I put my finger to her lips. "You look around and I'll be back in fifteen minutes."

"But..."

"Autah!" I smiled. "See ya."

"Yeah. Bye," I heard her mumble as I strolled out of the store. I walked to Sears where Leighanne told me to meet her. She was going to give me the dress and shoes she's picked out for me to give to Shelby. I was her flipping through a rack of clothes holding a Dillards bag and quickly made my way to her.

"Hi," I said.

"Oh, hey, Nick! Here you go!" She handed me the bad and I looked inside.

"Thank you so much!"

"You're welcome. I got a hunter green, down to the knees, spagehtti strapped dress. The shoes are size seven, hunter green, open-toed, strappy, and sandels. You like?"

"Definitely! Thank you again!" I replied.

"No prob! You better go back to Shelby now!"

"All right. Bye!" I waved as I rushed back to Shelby. Surprisingly I saw her with clothes in her arms. She had her back turned to me and Sean was sitting in his carrer on a small table beside her, so I decided to sneak up on her.

"Boo!" I whispered in her ear and the clothes dropped on the floor.

"Auhhh!" she gasped with her hand over her heart.

"Sorry," I apologized smirking as I bent down to pick the items on the floor up.

"No, you aren't, Mr. Nickolas Gene Carter! You scared the shit...I mean crap out of me!" she corrected herself glancing at Sean.

"I didn't mean to. Okay...yeah, I did, but I didn't know you were that perinoid."

"Well, uh...what's in the bag?" she asked ponting at the bag by Sean.

"Just ah...shoes and a shirt. I'll show you later."

"Okay. I'm almost ready to go."

"No. Take your time. There's no hurry, Shel. We're going to have fun today, all right?" I asked look at her earnestly and she just nodded at me. I about drowned in the sea of her blue eyes.
