![]() By: Pancho Jauncho Since a Super Smash Brothers sequel was announced to appear on the Gamecube, people got excited, they would finally have a sequel to the best fighting game that was on the N64. Nintendo also announced the appearance of the game at the upcoming E3. Now, E3 ended, and the game was shown with tons of movies and screen shots, even better, it was playable. Even if I were not able to be playing it, I am able to do my impressions. E3 barely began, but screen shots, movies, and info of this game were blazing the web. At the Pre-E3 show, Nintendo showed practically all of their games that were going to be exposed, one of them was Super Smash Brothers Melee. At the Pre-E3 show, Nintendo showed the first bunch of screen shots of this game. The first thing we saw were the upgrade on the graphics, next, what we saw were the excellent movies. According to what Nintendo showed at the E3, this game contains the four-players battle just as the N64 version had. The single player game will have the same tournament mode as the N64, but now with much more improvements. Nintendo thought that this wasn't enough, and also thought that players didn’t liked much of the single player mode of the N64 version. So, Nintendo made a different single player mode, a 2D perspective game where your selected character, travels around a world, filled with enemies from their games. For example, with Mario, he would travel on a world with Koopas and Goombas, and at the final stage, your selected character is going to fight a boss, in this case, Mario would fight Bowser or maybe another boss. Judging from the fact that the game is on Gamecube, this game will have some "melting eyes" graphics. The screen shots showed some great graphics, but logical, the videos showed a lot more. In some of the videos showed some FMVs inside the game, shining great graphics. Of course, FMVs have great graphics, but what happens with the in-game graphics? Well, they are really impressive, with levels like the one of Captain Falcon, where everything is in 3D, the cars and everything is cool. You need to see Link on this new game, impressive. ALL, absolutely all the characters that participated on the N64 version will have a return on the Gamecube game. Those include: Luigi, Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Captain Falcon, Ness, Yoshi, Fox, Kirby, Pikachu and Jigglypuff. But everyone that played the N64 version wants more characters, are there more characters? Which ones? Well, just to say some, at the first day of the E3, some screen shots showed some extra characters, those includes: Princess Toadstool, Sheik, Ice Climber and Bowser. At the second day, Nintendo showed even more extra characters, those are: Kid Icarus, King Deedee (Kirby's nemesis), King K. Rool (Donkey Kong SNES enemy), the Excitebike Racer (complete with dirtbike, from the NES), Andross's Face (SNES version), Andross's Face (N64 version), Balloon Kid (from the NES game.) The exact names of the arenas in the game are not known, but, as we could see, the old arenas are back plus some more, just like a new Mario Bros arena, an all new Planet Zebes, a Link´s stage and the great F-Zero arena, where some hovercrafts are racing and if you are on the road on the wrong time, you are dead. We got this, the function of the controller at the E3:
OLD PREVIEW The sequel of the best fighting game on the N64, featuring the star characters from Nintendo, Mario, Link, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Samus, Yoshi, Fox and Pikachu, has been confirmed for the Next Generation system from Nintendo, Gamecube. What new things can we expect to see in this new game? Talking about graphics, we can expect some really good graphics for this game. Super Smash Brothers 2 will surely take advantage of the Gamecube´s power. The game for N64 didn’t had the best graphics on the N64, but they were really good. Now imagine this game with Gamecube´s power. The gameplay will be similar to the one of the N64 version. However, in the Gamecube version, players might fight on a completely 3D environment, even if a 2D environment is better than a 3D for these kind of games. Will the Gamecube version use a 2D
environment? Many players were disappointed because there were not many
characters on the N64 version, in the upcoming game we can expect to see
much more characters. We can be sure to see Mario, Luigi, Link, Kirby,
DK, Fox, Samus, Yoshi and Pikachu. We don’t know if characters like Ness
or Captain Falcon will appear on the new game. Since the Pokemon games
have been increasing its number and popularity, we have to be sure to see
at least three more Pokemons on the game, also from the famous item, the
pokeball. Since players have demanded more characters we can assume Nintendo
will put more characters, we might see a James Bond, Bowser, Gannondorf,
and even a Joanna Dark plus some hidden characters.
Can we expect new characters and more hidden characters on the new version? We can surely say "Yes." Talking about the arenas, we might see a lot more arenas, maybe a Hyrule field, or a Zebes planet, Gannondorf´s tower and maybe a Carrington Institute if Joanna is in the game. More Mario worlds, Kirby worlds, DK worlds, Fox planes, and we might see a Bowser arena. We will surely see more arenas. The items is something very important for the game. The items for the N64 version were great. We can see the return of the Hammer, Star, Heart, Bat, Beam Sword etc. while we can see new items like a some bananas or maybe balloons. The Pokeball, will surely have more pokemons, since there are 250 new pokemon by now. Will there be more items? Surely yes.The single player is an important part of the game, and even if the multiplayer is the best part, the single player might have more fights and more mini challenges after some fights. The final boss could be some more original, players might fight a big Bowser at the final. We could have more challenges between fights. Since Smash Brothers for N64 was a great game, only because it had all our favorite characters fighting, the Gamecube version is expected to be a million times better than the N64 version. We hope this game will have more playable characters and some more hidden, we would love more arenas to fight on, more items to attack our enemies and more multiplayer options. Something that you can be sure, is that Nintendo will put more characters, arenas and items but something that players will never see on Smash Brothers 2 is a James Bond of a Joanna Dark, forget those dreams of having James Bond fighting Joanna Dark shooting themselves to the head, this is a Nintendo game, for all the family and it will be surely rated "E" Everyone. This is expected to be a hit on the Gamecube and it might have a launch release. Can you imagine a Super Smash Brothers game for Gamecube? Well, just imagine the N64 version with much more characters, arenas and items and of course better graphics. |
