![]() By: Bendaho The girl's name is Priscilla. She may not be as pretty as Lara Croft from tomb raider, but 10 times stronger. She can shoot lightning bolts at you. It seems being the daughter of Greek god Zeus has its benefits. The maker of BioFreeks for PSX has made a game called Saffire (formerly known as Young Olympians), for the new Cube/PS2. This third-person action-adventure, set to the backdrop of Greek mythology, represents the first time the game-maker has thrown off the shackles of working under a publisher and taken on the responsibility for itself. The idea, according to the company, is not to create a mere videogame, but a franchise -- a franchise that extends far beyond the realm of videogames into the much more mainstream world of television and literature. Features . . .
Each member of the five-person team has superhuman abilities, due to the fact that they are all of god ancestry. Priscilla, the daughter of Zeus and leader of the group, for example, has full control over electricity and sound. The beautiful goddess can call lighting bolts from the heavens to burn enemies or malfunction electrical equipment. She also possesses master control of sound, meaning she can suck all noise out of an area or create a sonic-boom if needs be. The game's other characters feature
similar abilities:
Melanie, the daughter of Hephaestus and Aphrodite, inherited all the sex appeal and charm of her mother. She's extraordinarily beautiful, but because she has been given the mind of her father, she doesn't' realize it. Even as team members and enemies fall victim to her charms, she's too dazzled by modern technology to notice. Damien, meanwhile, the god and product
of a drunken love affair with Dionysus and Athena, is a musician who possesses
the ability to project physical thought. In game terms, this means the
character can conjure up his own weapons and devices that can then be used
against enemies. He can also put enemies to sleep with his 'drunken' powers.
Saffire is basically a third-person action-adventure with fighting and puzzle elements. It's a game that has it all. The development team at Saffire is aiming for an end product that plays fast and smart, letting gamers to interact with their environments like never before. This game also features huge 3D worlds, a stunning frame rate and levels that call for players to use different characters to achieve different goals. Having Priscilla blasting characters in an open area with her very cool lightning bolts is not recommended. But if you are Damien, you could use his drunken powers to put an enemy guard to sleep and then sneak past a location unseen. |
