| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ( B ) CHRISTMAS - THE WORD In truth, the word Christmas has nothing to do with the birth of Christ. Christmas is simply an abbreviated word which means Christs Mass or also called, the Mass of Christ. Thus, Christmas is not a celebration of the Lords' birth. Moreover, Christmas, that is to say " Christs' Mass " or the " Mass of Christ " is not really a true witness of Christs' death for the sins of the world. So Christmas is falsehood in just those two instances. The Mass is a Roman Catholic sacrament that deals specifically with the Lords death and it does so in an unscriptural manner at that. It has nothing to do with His birth. www.newadvent.org/cathen/03724b.htm www.christianism.com/articles/13.html http://www.bible.ca/t-holy-days-origin-christmas-easter-halloween.htm http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=Christmas+and+1038+A.D. http://www.a-voice.org/main/chrismas.htm Encyclopedic Resources: The Encyclopedia Britannica - A Dictionary of Arts, Sciences, Literature and General Information 11th Edition Vol. 6 p. 293 Colliers Encyclopedia Vol. 6 p. 403 The New Encyclopedia Britannica Micropaedia Ready Reference 15th Edition Vol. 3 p. 283 Chambers Encyclopaedia New Revised Edition Vol. 3 p. 537 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
