Each Friday has a different theme, Kimberly is the 2nd Friday Leader and focuses on Nutrition & Exercise. She is the author of The Healthy Lifestyles Program and brings a healthy recipe along with an exercise move to make you healthier. |

It was a cold December morning, yet we learned a lot from our featured guests and , as usual, enjoyed a walk at the lake. Our featured guests are pictured below. On the left is Hugh Brooks of Friends of the Farm. Hugh is working hard with the Dallas Trekkers to make Samuel Farm in Mesquite a beautiful, educational area with hiking trails for you and your family... Anticipated opening is Summer 2004.
Pictured on the right is Ruben Rodarte of Cooper Instititute. Ruben is involved in recruiting participants in exercise studies funded by the National Institiute of Health. Currently, Ruben is looking for inactive, non-diabetic, post- menopausal women 45-60 to participate in a supervised exercise study at the Cooper Clinic. If you meet the study criteria, what a great step toward a healthier life!

Walk-n-Talk Stroller Brigade October 17, 2003
Dr. Baby Proofer (Thom Golden, RN, BSN) was the featured guest for the Stroller Brigade Kick Off. According to the Texas Department of Health. INJURY is the biggest killler of our Children. Dr Baby Proofer, an experienced emergency room nurse has had first hand experience with the many PREVENTABLE tragedies he has seen in infants and children in the Emergency Room Setting. Dr Baby Proofer offers in home safety evaluations and car seat safety checks. Remember....a car seat alone does not make your child safe. Is your child's car seat correctly installed? Dr Baby Proofers' experience, education and passion for child safety should be considered a Necessity for the safety of our children.

Ms. Richey oversees many programs improving the health of Dallas County. These programs include: Walk Across Texas, a free walking program to motivate people to increase their levels of physical activitiy, Quarterly Healthy Cooking Schools; Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes, an educational program for people with Type II diabetes; and Wellness in the City Master Volunteers, volunteers receive 30 hours of education in nutrition and in return implement educational programs that teach Dallas about Health Living.
Ms Richey will be offering a Healthy Education Class in the White Rock Lake area in December at the offices of CPR Training & More...

Walk-n-Talk Business Networking Kickoff

The First Friday Walk-n-Talk Business Networking Event Kick -Off was held on a gorgeous morning at Winfrey Point with the Dallas Skyline in the background. The event was kicked-off with supporting comments from Councilman Gary Griffith, Dallas NE Chamber President Don Wilson, Hispanic Chamber President Arturo Violante and Southwest Regional Director of Volkssport Walking, John Ferguson.
The event received much media attention including Channel 39 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. news, Dallas Morning News Pulse Magazine Photographer for a future story, and James Bone of Nurses' Lounge Magazine. Many pictures were taken and hopefully will be seen in our local White Rocker Newspaper and our neighborhood magazine, The Advocate. Please join the next month's Walk-n-Talk Business Networking Friday, October 3, at the Winfrey Point Parking Lot at 8:30 a.m. Walk-n-Talk and let your business grow!!
