Vocation

• Communications Technology Manager within the communications department of a major aerospace and defense company in north Texas. I serve as managing editor for our business' intranet site, and promote emerging communications tools to further our communications objectives.
• For the past 25 years at this company, I have had a chance to work on great projects with great people, in engineering, configuration/data management and communications. Some of my previous projects include:
  • On the start-up team that stood up the company's first intranet site in 1995.
  • Championed the use of Xerox DocuShare within our company. Its use has spread from my desktop to 35,000 seats.
  • Developed a Lessons Learned program and database for the company.
  • Long time champion/supporter/cheerleader for the CALS initiative (Computer Aided Acquisition and Life Cycle Support), which we called digital data on demand. The dream of CALS has finally become reality, with the Internet, the web, and RSS as enablers. It just took 15 years longer than I expected!
  • I have worked many related initiatives, with interests primarily in workflow, digital signature, document management and electronic delivery.
  • I served as the Document and Data Control coordinator for our site's AS9100/ISO 9001:2000 certification.

  • I was first licensed as WN9LRI in 1964, then WA9LRI in 1965 -- remember Heathkits, KnightKits and vacuum tubes? Before that, I also involved in the early days of CB radio (when people used callsigns ). My dad's call was KHD5402, and once I was 16, I got my own call... KBW7463.
