| Except for selected frequencies
used by the Police and Fire Departments, all other radio usage is on
the Racom Network Trunked Radio System. They do simucast the Dispatch talkgroups for Police & Fire on the old channels of 460.450 & 155.805. The police department does use MDCs and both departments can use digital talkgroups that can not be heard in the clear by scanners. From time to time Bettendorf Police Officers or Dispatchers may use a Scott County Sheriff talkgroup to talk to the Sheriff Department. Bettendorf Police unit numbering system: 500 series are beat cars. Second digit is the shift with the third as the beat area. 1st seems to be downtown below the hill. 2nd is on top of the hill. 3th westside 4th north. 5th beat area is planned but not funded at this time. 100 series seems to be adminstrative units. 200 series may be investigative, 300 or 400 units have not been heard. |

County Benefitted Fire District #1. See above for department talkgroups
on the
RACOM Network. The department now refers to the apparatus according to use and station. Bettendorf Fire belongs to MABAS Region #43 which is a group of Fire Departments in Rock Island and Scott Counties. When more manpower or specialized equipment is needed at a fire or rescue scene they can request a MABAS box assignment. Generally an incident in Bettendorf needing aid from other department(s) will be on the 800 MABAS Blue talkgroup. |
