Task 1

    There is a report that The Henrietta Marie slave ship wreckage has been found off the coast of Florida.  The museum is willing to pay for a team of marine archeologists to dive, explore and recover any artifacts from the ship wreck site.  You must prepare a Power Point presentation about how your team will search the wreckage site.  You must contact resources for information and document at least one live resource person.  You are to explain to the museum board the following:

  1. What tools will you need for deep water exploration?
  2. What special tools will you need for underwater archeology?
  3. What type of damage can you expect to find on the items?
  4. What effect does sea water have on certain items?
  5. Predict what type of hazards could your divers face at those depth?

Task 2

The task you have, is to write a brief report of what life was like for both the crew and the slaves.  Use the web sites provided.  You will construct a Power Point presentation of a typical day.  You must connect daily events with the artifacts recovered from The Henrietta Marie.

Task 3

Your team is to construct a map. The map will show two important pieces of information.  First your map will show the final route of The Henrietta Marie.  Second, you will show documented routes of the Triangle Trade.  This map must be large enough for a museum display.  This map must also be a picture map of the resources of the areas involved in The Triangle Trade.

Task 4

     Your team is to construct a chart to show the countries involved in the slave trade.  This chart will show the resources that eacdh participating country provided.  What companies were involved in the slave trade?  This chart will show the imports and exports of the countries involved.  Your chart will have a written report which will answer these questions:

  1. What did the slave sellers in Africa gain?
  2. How was the trade conducted?
  3. How was the "cargo" insured?
  4. What areas of United States were ports of entry for the slaves?
  5. What was the average value of a ship's slave cargo?
  6.

Task 5

    This team is responsible for collecting poems, art and sculpture of the countries of Africa. The glory of Africa is evident in the art.   You are to search the resources and make a display of some of the art of the countries of Africa.  You are to be able to identify the country the art came from.
