Name: Julian Lim (Lin Ru Lian)

Date of Birth: 25/07/1980

Current Status:
NTU School of Communications and Informations Student

Nickname: Mop hair.

Hobbies: Dancing.

Reasons for joining Youth Quest:
I thought it sounded really interesting, mainly because it was supposed to be a backpacker's experience in China shot into a TV program ( think: Lonely Planet ). The added challenge was that you would be given limited allowance and 'unique' situations. The perk behind it all was that it was simply a free holiday!

Most memorable experience:
The most heart-tugging one was visiting the primary school in the Chengdu rural areas. I still have the kids' photos and little gifts of bullet shells they picked up and kept. I hope they will grow up and get to travel to Singapore as I have to their country.

Favourite episode:
Episode 3. (Where the youths taught English at a Chengdu rural school).

Catch phrase:
Wo Men Zou! (Let's go!)

Favourite thing from China:
I think this is gonna be unanimous -- FOOD!

What you will tell a 1st time visitor to China:
Get ready to go on a diet after your trip!
On a more serious note, I noticed that people of different dialects seem to exhibit different characteristics. Such as one may speak fiercely, another may be mellow, but overall, as long as you make the right approach and talk to them, they are usually very engaging and friendly.
