September 1913 was the first bank robbery in Lake Placid. A ten year old local Grady Parrish noticed the two men walking down the street with colored wigs. Waiting till the curiosity over took him, followed the men down the street thinking they were with the circus. When the two men entered the bank young Parrish viewed them holding the tellers and bank manager up. He ran to tell his father who instructed him to go get the marshall, Tom Bozeman who responded to the bank and while trying to apprehend the robbers from escaping shot one of the suspects. Bozeman recieved $100.00 from the bank owner and young Grady Parrish recieved a $10.00 reward for his help in the incident. This mural is painted on the building where the bank use to be which was destroyed in the 1991 fire which took most of Main Street with it.
In this mural if you look closely you will see 4 $ signs.
