The Raising of Gina McGarry to be the first Ardbandrui ( Lady Archdruid) of Tara, Ireland took place on this day. Representing Druids West [England] were the Outer Order of Exmoor, Western Order, Secular Order Bath, Hibernian Order Glastonbury, Mystic Order along with Druids for Peace and Reconciliation, the Bardic College of Ynis Witrin, along with many other Orders.
Amongst the Irish Friends of Druids West were Druid Clan of Dana, Temple of Isis, the Hibernian Order, Druid Order of Ireland, Dragon Women of Tara, Groves from Galway, Kerry, Dublin and representatives from many other Groves and Counties.

A video was recorded of Gina McGarry's speech and can be found Here - for those who may have problems hearing or viewing the video here is a transcript of the speech .......

"A Dhaoine Uaisle! Siochán! Beannacht Dia agus Bandia leat!
Good people, Peace, Blessings of the God and Goddess upon you

The Archdruid of Dublin, Anrai O’'Raghallaigh has said that no one need come to Ireland to teach the Irish anything. I quite agree – I did not come here to teach. I came here to serve. And I serve Ireland and her people and Tara with all that I have and all that I am.

On this day I salute the local community of Tara and I offer them all of my support and respect. On this day I salute Mna na h-Eireann, the Women of Ireland, who are my Mentors, my Mothers, my Sisters, my role models and I hope that we can all soon find our voices.
I salute the Spirit of this place, our ancient ancestors - Morrigu and Lugh, Dagda and Boann, Grainne and Finn McCumhail and countless others who gather here in solidarity in Ireland in the spirit of the ?? (was hard to get all of this bit with wind sound)

I am not interested in heroes who battle to save the day, I am interested in Lovers, who live their lives loving and neurturing their world. Quantum physics is proving the knowledge of our Druid ancestors – that thought manifests, that what we think and what we believe Becomes. And I believe that those of us who are lovers can bring about a new day if we stand together.

This role holds no special power – we All have the Power to bless and I pray that from this moment on we will engage that power, blessing with every breath our beautiful world.
And so I also salute my brothers who love the Earth and Her children, who Love and Respect Women and Children. I salute the Druids of Ireland, All Druids of Ireland, in our diversity we are equal and a special welcome to the Druids of Britain (*bows*) how wonderful it is that we can meet together in Peace and Respect - Thank you for coming so far to support me.

This role carries with it the responsibility to enthuse us with Honour and Intergrity – and that is what I promise to do." (video cuts off there).

We wish Gina good health and a long and successful time in her position.

Today a local Order of Druids in Glastonbury reformed to become the Western Order of Druids - W.O.o.D.
A meeting gathered at the White Spring to proceed later to the Fairfield, A large circle of sixty or so people formed in the Fairfield, from which the membership of the new Order, twenty-eight in total, joined the nominal Head of Order, Denny Price, in the circle's centre. Of these, nineteen were new members, who are known as 'saplings'.

Following the initiation of the Western Order, the circle also witnessed the 'raising', or formal acceptance, of a new member (from Japan) of the neighbouring Outer Order of Druids, from Exmoor, who have become the first Druid Order formally to recognise the Western Order.

Representatives of many Druidical traditions and related paths attended the event, among them the Hibernian Order; the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids; the Outer Order of Druids (Exmoor); the Mystic Order of Druids; the Rainbow Circle and Oak Dragon; the Dolmen Grove; the Bardic Chair of Caer Badon; the Bardic Council of Ynys Wytrin; the Guardians of the White Spring and the Friends of Bride's Mound. New members of the Order included several visiting Druids from the USA.

We wish the W.O.o.Ds and Head of Order Denny Price a long and peaceful path.
