Rules Of Roleplay

These rules are strictly enforced by the ops of Mystic Crystal Realm so please be sure to read this entire section or you may find yourself banned for something simple that you would have been advised of in this page. These rules apply to EVERYONE. You are expected to follow them no matter who you are, SOP, AOP, Member or Guest. It makes no difference. Any breaches will be delt with swiftly and sternly. Thank you.

The Mystic Crystal Realm Committee.

OOC Rules - Out Of Character Rules
1. No Melodramatics - By this we mean we will not tolerate someone throwing hissy fits in our ooc chan and walking out in an attempt to gain attention or sympathy from fellow members and by that cause a distraction from the roleplay that is occuring. We will not tolerate someone threatening to leave if their demands are not met, or if they do not get their way or the reaction from others they were seeking. This applies to everyone. If you choose to leave, leave immediately. Withdraw your characters sensibly. Do not say they were wiped out by freak accidents of nature or give excuses you did not roleplay out. This causes disruption to other player's characters and this is not tolerated. Anyone who causes such problems will be warned, then temporarily banned, and then banned permanently if they persist. If the first offense is great enough a permanent ban will be imposed immediately. All bans will come up for reconsideration at every monthly meeting.
2. No Abuse - This is again strictly enforced and not tolerated. Any harrassment or abuse to any members will be swiftly delt with, and again depending on severity a kick, temp ban or perm ban will be imposed immediately. Repeat offenders will be permanently banned without reconsideration at the monthly meetings.
3. No Spying - As we have already had an incident involving this a rule has been established. Those found to not contribute to roleplay but seen to be idling regularly and repetitively will be asked to join in, and if their behaviour persists they will be temp banned. If it comes to our attention that information regarding plots or situations of our members that are then copied or our members harrassed for we will perm ban.
4. No Dishonesty With Intent To Ambush - By this we mean you are not to talk to a member about a roleplay plot that is yet to be completed and find out all the details in order to enter it and destroy it. This will be enforced by swift imposing of perm ban with no reconsideration.
5.No Transferring of Information From OOC to IC - This is a very very strict roleplay rule. No information you may found out from a member about their character can you have your character suddenly 'figure out' with no basis for the conclusion to be based upon. Think of it like a trial. You can not convict someone without the evidence. You can NOT have your character know things about someone else's character from what you, the player, has read on, for example, this website in the character bios. This is strictly enforced with a kick, then a temp ban and followed by a perm ban if the person persists. If the circumstance causes a character death a perm ban is imposed with reconsideration after two months and the roleplay is wiped from the plots.
6.No Idling - By this we mean if you're going to go into a roleplay channel please make sure it is to actually roleplay. If you know you're going to go away from the computer, please leave joining the channel til you are ready to roleplay. If the away is minor whilst you're in the channel and plan to return, this is fine. Just announce a brb (be right back) in the OOC chan and then a b (back) into the OOC chan upon your return. Some ops will occasionally idle in the channel if they have gone away but are the only op online. This is to monitor the activity in the channel through logging. This is the only acceptable case of idling.

IC - In Character
1. No God Characters - This means no characters that are all powerful and can not be hurt or defeated in an IC battle. You are required to take hits for your character corresponding to the information you know about them, and the information the other player gives when their character makes a strike towards your character. Players will be informed in private if their actions are suspect and if things are not readjusted we will kick, and if breach of this rule persists a temp ban or permanent ban will be imposed. If the instance warrants a perm ban will be enforced immediately. Reconsideration will be based on severity of offense and if the breach has occured previously by the same person.
2. No Auto Hits - This means when you are attempting an action that brings your character into physical contact with another player's character you do that. You attempt. Your grammar must suggest the attempt such as> ex.: *DartFire reaches for SoftSpoken, trying to gently press his/her hand against SoftSpoken's hand, and then will attempt to heal the injury. This will give the other player a chance to react to any of those motions to say any number of actions such as : A: *SoftSpoken pulls away before DartFire can touch them. Or B: *SoftSpoken lets DartFire touch him/her and winces when he/she presses his/her hand, but pulls away before he/she can attempt to heal her. Or C: *SoftSpoken lets DartFire touch him/her and winces when he/she presses his/her hand, feeling his/her hand heal, smiling gently and gratefully whispering thanks. Etc. You know your character best of all in how they would react to a situation. But be sensible in accomodating other player's characters with their talents and skills, magic or otherwise. This is also applicable with fights. Ex: *HellFire brings his/her sword down in a diagonal thrusting slash at JaggedEdge's chest, hoping to slice them in half. It is the same as the first example except this action is more physical. Any breach of this rule will be first questioned, then expected to be remedied and if constant persistant breach of this rule is found to be occuring temp or perm ban will be enforced. As with all other rules if the situation is greivous enough then a perm ban will be immediately enforced and depending on severity it will be reconsidered by the Board at the monthly meeting.
3. No OOC Chat in IC Channels - If this is deliberate it will be met with a swift kick from the channel. We appreciate that sometimes there are computer glitches or human error mistakes where something that was meant for somewhere else somehow ends up in the channel. It happens. But if it is deliberate and constant it disturbs the flow of roleplay and is not tolerated. We provide an OOC chat channel for you to ask questions, have chats with other players, and have discussions about the hits or the roleplay occuring in the IC channel. We understand that other realms have loose rules on this and tolerate it, and if you are new to the realm we will allow a period of adjustment of a week before we will repremand and enforce the rule. Temp bans for those who persist, and if it is constant after such a warning a permanent ban will be enforced and reconsideration will be after two months.
4. No Transfer of OOC to IC - See rule 5 of OOC Rules.
5.Read Channel Topics - In topics you will usually find the information applicable to the channel setting. For instance in the main roleplay channel you will find it says 'All portals into the city are redirected to the main portal in the middle of town.' This is applicable for ALL channels within the city. Anyone who choses to ignore this rule or any other ones similar (for ex.: 'There are wards against destruction on the tavern and the shops throughout the city small businesses have similair ones.') will be first tapped on the shoulder and then if they persist to ignore such channel rules they will be kicked, temp banned then perm banned. Depending on the severity a perm ban will be initiated and reconsideration will be looked into at the monthly meeting depending upon the severity.
6.No Idling - See rule 6 of OOC Rules.
