| The first time you kept a secret from your parents. Kyo: I think there have been quite a lot of times when I kept a secret from my parents. The one I can remember just out the top of my head is that I stole a bicycle and rode on it not that long ago. ++++ Kaoru: When I shoplifted (laugh). I always kept wondering what would happen to me if I stole something when I was in primary school so I stole some stupid sweets or something like that. [Even if you tried to keep it a secret from your parents, the shopkeeper must have told them, didn't he/she?] Kaoru: No, he/she let me off. Even so I was very anxious when I returned home thinking that the shopkeeper might have phoned them. They really didn't know but I thought that they knew and they were just keeping quiet about it. For the whole day my heart was racing. [They don't even know now?] Kaoru: No they haven't found out yet. But the next time I shoplifted, they found out (laugh). ++++ Die: This must be robbery but?(laugh). When I was a child, my father saved 100yen coins in some coffee jar or something. The lid was stuck down with glue but there was a whole where you could put the coins in. When my friends came over to my house after school, we wanted to go out and buy something so we used a toothpick to take out the 100yen coins. Probably my parents realised but they never said anything. I feel very bad about it. Sorry. Toshiya: The first time I was going out for a date, I lied that I was going somewhere with a friend (laugh). It wasn't like I was going to get told off if I told the truth but I didn't want them to know. But they may have realised as I seemed to be at the sink for longer than usual. (laugh) Shinya: There was a jar used for saving all the small change. Secretly, I used to take some money out and use it to buy sweets in the supermarket and eat it secretly. However I was found out but I kept it a secret till then. This is when I was still in nursery though. [Are you a habitual criminal?] Shinya: No no. It was just that once. The first part-time job. Kyo: I've done so many that I can't remember which one is the first one I did. I think it was a factory where they packaged goods when I was in secondary school. I went with 3 of my friends and we had to pack some fried chicken bentou(pack-lunch) but we made holes in it on purpose. Then we would say 'there's a whole in this one' and eat it. Everyone was doing it. The things we packed that had been touched with our fairly dirty hands were sold. That is why I don't eat much bentou (pack-lunch). Kaoru: The 'takoyaki' store which was on the ground floor of a supermarket. That supermarket was on the way when returning to my house and my friend worked there. They wouldn't allow 2 friends to work in the same part of the supermarket so I had to work in the most tiresome-looking store which was the only one with needed someone. I worked whilst sweating. Die: I worked with 2 of my friends in the easter holidays after graduating from chuugaku at a place called 'Gyouza no Oushou'. The 19 year olds looked very grown-up. I made Ramen and Gyoza and even did the washing up. But I didn't know how to make the ramen so when I made it and served it to the customers, they complained that there was no special taste of the soup. I was taught how to make Gyoza but they still looked ugly. Toshiya: I had no intention of going to koukou (starting from 4th year of secondary school) but as parents, they want you to go don't they? I was asked if I wanted to go to koukou or work in the real world. As a result of the conversation, I was told to work in the summer holidays and learn about the real world. So in the summer holiday of chuugaku third year, I did labour work at an office of my mum's friend. It was very hard. In the morning, I had to get up earlier than going to school, taking 40 minutes by bike to get to the work place and work. This was repeated everyday and I fainted out of exhaustion towards the end. Then I really did think that it was impossible from me to start working after chuugaku. Shinya: The first part-time job I did was sticking leaflets and posters of a English learning school. I went round every shop asking if I could stick the poster up in their shop and after I got permission, I would stick it. Also stuck leaflets at the station. I worked for about a month and I got around 2000yen (laugh). I stopped working soon as I wasn't earning much and I thought a part-time job wasn't for me. How did you spend your first earnings? Kyo: I think it was probably either a CD or a game. I used to save up all my New Year's money and buy a toy but with the money I earned, it disappeared very quickly. Kaoru: I used the money I earned from the takoyaki store to buy 'Mocking Bird' (guitar). It took time to arrive after I put in the order so I got it for a cheaper price. I worked around 2 months and I finally got my hands on it. That was the first time I bought a guitar. Die: Earning about 600yen per hour, I worked right till the end of the summer holidays and earned in total around 70 000yen. Then I went to Osaka with my friends and bought some clothes and it disappeared very fast. Toshiya: I think I bought a guitar with it. At that age, I was no longer a fan of Toku___ Eikichi and was into BOOWY. It was a bright red guitar and should have cost 100000something yen but it had been damaged so I got it for half the price. The part-time job was very hard but it was good because I got my hands on what I wanted. Shinya: It was only around 2000yen?I think I put it in my purse and then soon it was gone (laugh). |
