Gillian Leigh Anderson was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 9th 1968. She spent the first
15 month of her life in Puerto Rico and the following nine years in London’s North End. As a child,
her dream was to be archaeologist or marine biologist, but she already has a flare for dramatic.
Then the family moved back to the USA, where Gillian finished High School in 1986. It’s been very hard for her to move back to the USA and loose all friends. That’s the way how she reacted: She became a punk with dreadlocks, nose ring and so on. But one day, she decided to be actress. But one day, she decided to be actress. From this moment on, her outlook changed and her grades went up. She studied at the prestigious DePaul University's Goodman Theater and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Then she headed New York for starting a career in acting. After two stage plays, one film and a guest appearance in a TV series, she auditioned for the role of Special Agent Dana Scully in X-Files in1993. And she got it!
