William_Nimmo_Sandilands

15. Captain William Nimmo4 SANDILANDS (Erskine3Nimmo, William2, Patrick1); born 10 December 1786 in Chingleput, India; baptised 18 January 1787 in Chingleput, India; married an unknown person 1815 in London, England who may have also been his wife Charlotte Aylward, daughter of Male Aylward, a shipowner and Sarah ?. He died 29 January 1845 at age 58 and is buried in St. Cuthbert's Churchyard, Edinburgh, Scotland.

He was a Captain in the 7th West India Regiment, resigned on half-pay in 1816. He was born with the surname NIMMO and part way through his military career, assumed the surname SANDILANDS.

Charlotte AYLWARD was born circa 1800. She died at 3.35pm on 29 January 1867 at 30 Hamilton Place, Stockbridge, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, aged 66 years. Cause of death was paralysis which she had suffered for 3 years. The informant of her death was her daughter, Esther N. Brown. Charlotte is buried alongside her husband in Edinburgh.

	16. i.	Charlotte Marie Nimmo SANDILANDS, born 1821 in Scotland; died 7 December 1837 in Scotland. She died at the age of 16, only an hour or two before the birth of her brother Benoni.
	17. ii.	Major General Erskine Nimmo SANDILANDS, born 13 November 1824 in Portobello, near Edinburgh, Scotland; died unmarried 14 October 1897 in Eltham, Kent, England, at age 73 years and is buried there.
	18. iii.	William Nimmo SANDILANDS, born circa 1825 in Scotland. He died young and is buried in Inveresk, Scotland.
	19. iv.	Frances Cornelius (Cornelia) Nimmo SANDILANDS, born circa 1827 in Scotland. She emigrated to Australia, arriving on 26 August 1853 in Victoria, Australia, on the ship "Tomatin." She married George Thomas MYLES (or MILES); died 16 April 1912 in Warwick, Queensland, Australia.
	20. v.	Thomas Nimmo SANDILANDS, born circa 1829 in Scotland. He died in infancy and is buried in Inveresk, Scotland.
	21. vi.	Esther Nimmo SANDILANDS, born 1833 in Scotland, married Robert BROWN.
	22. vii.	Thomas Lewis SANDILANDS, born 8 January 1834. He was last heard of in Australia in 1864.
	23. viii.	Benoni Nimmo SANDILANDS, born 7 December 1837 in Scotland; married Sarah Jane MAYER.
	24. ix.	Lieutenant Colonel Alfred Nimmo SANDILANDS, born circa 1841 in Scotland; died 1 February 1905 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, aged 64 years. He is buried in Edinburgh, Scotland.
