"These are the evil aliens?" Maria asked incredulously, pointing at the bunch. They didn't look any more threatening than a bunch of kindergarteners.

The lead one spared her a glance, but spoke to Max. "It was a waste of time to try and escape us. You and your people are doomed."

"How did you find us?" was all Max said, his voice clipped. "We were careful."

"It wasn't hard," the man said, shrugging, "I mean, we weren't even trying all that hard. Obviously, we knew who you are all. When your little friend sued her bank card yesterday to get money, we traced you to New York."

"You mean she's the reason you caught us?" Tess said in a high voice, pointing at Maria. "She is the reason for all this? Oh God, I knew bringing them along was a mistake. Only humans could do something so stupid."

"Shut up Tess," Max hissed in his authoritative voice, which was annoying, but at least he was ordering the right person around.

"No," Tess snapped, "We should have left her and the others back in Roswell to die, or have done to them whatever these guys planned to do. Because of them, Nasedo isn't with us. Now, because of them I am going to die. That blonde whore should....."

Her words were cut off as the leader of the 5 men pulled out a weird looking gun and shot her. Granted, it was only in the arm, but it was enough to shut her up. Tess looked down at her arm, as she grimaced in pain. There was no blood, only a gaping hole where the bullet or ray or whatever it was had passed through.

"She annoyed me," the man said calmly, "Wait to see what happens when I really get pissed off."

He turned back to Max, "So, I'll give you a choice. No matter what happens, the four of you and any who know about you must be exterminated."

"Why?" Max interrupted, "Why do they all have to die?"

The man sighed, "So there's not proof of your existence. It's a long story, which you obviously don't know, but our people believed we had killed you long ago. We can't have them find out that you still existed in any way. They would lose all faith in us, their leaders."

He continued, "But, you can all either die here, a quick painless death when I shoot you through the heart with this thing, or you can all die on our spaceship in a ritual sacrifice."

"Oooo, I vote for ritual sacrifice," Maria said sarcastically.

"What if we refuse to die?" Michael said to the man, "I for one think I could take you, gun or no gun."

The man simply ignored him and kept his attention on Max. "Hey," Michael said angrily, "Alien scum. I'm talking to you."

"I do not converse with underlings," the man said in a superior voice. "Now, stay away while I speak to your leader before I get annoyed and kill you anyway."

"He is not my leader," Michael snapped, "Even if he was supposedly some hot shot in our past lives, he's not now. We all speak for ourselves asshole."

"The decision is up to him," the man said calmly, still staring at Max.

Michael saw red, that was the only was to put it. He was so angry he could barely speak. Here was this man, an enemy no less, cutting him down. And Max, the guy he had envied all of his life, Max was the only one who mattered. It was like that on earth, and apparently it was that was on other planets too. Max, who tried to rule his life even before, was now being told he had the right to do so.

The man's supreme concentration on Max was the only thing that stopped him from seeing Michael lunge at him.

As Maria screamed, Michael crashed into the alien guy, his fist connecting with his guys face. The man's partners were too stunned to react at first, but then began to move.

As the one disguised as a guard who had brought them there moved to pull Michael off the man, Maria punched him in the stomach. As he doubled over in pain, she kneed him in the groin and yelled to the others, "We need to do something!"

Isabel had already jumped on one of the aliens. She wasn't hurting him all that much, but she was stopping him from getting to Michael and the other guy.

As the guy Maria hit collapsed to the ground, she saw Tess standing there, basically in shock. She wasn't doing a damn thing, and while Max took care of one of the others, one guy was still headed straight for Michael.

Maria cursed and leapt across the room. This one was smarter than the other guy, but that didn't stop her from getting a few lucky hits in before he flung her across the room. Michael was still grappling with the guy on the floor.

Maria scrambled to her feet and took another run at the guy, but he was better prepared this time. It took him only a few seconds to fling her away. It wouldn't take him long before he would be in a position to help the guy fight Michael.

Maria prepared herself for a flying kick that resembled something she had seen in Jackie Chan movies, but hesitated when she heard something behind her that made her blood freeze.

The gun that the guy fighting with Michael had been holding had just gone off.
