She touched her lips to his, ever so gently. The kiss was soft, but it felt so good. So different from what he was used to, but so good. He returned it. Deep down he knew it was wrong, but it felt so good.
Her hands slid down his shoulders across his broad chest, kneading his flesh. It was all he could do to keep from groaning out loud.
He gathered her to him, wanting this to go so much farther, wanting to be complete with her. He wanted, he wanted..... ....He wanted his damn alarm to shut up! This was the first thought Max had as he shot up in bed. He was breathing heavily. Flashes of the dream came back to him in spurts. He groaned quietly, and rested his head in his hands.
These dreams, with Tess; They were becoming so much more realistic. Each time he had them they went farther. He didn't know how to ask her if she was having them too. How were you supposed to broach a subject like that? Besides, he didn't want Liz to have to find out about these explicit dreams.
Max got out of his bed and dragged himself to the shower to get ready for school.
***********
Max walked up to the school slowly, following Isabel. He wondered what was going on with her. She had avoided all his questions and basically ignored him on the way to school.
Michael was talking quietly with Tess at her locker. Max wanted to run away when he saw her, and Isabel looked the same way when she saw the siblings. However, he forced himself to walk over to them, and Isabel followed reluctantly.
"Hey Tess," he said, trying to act nonchalant. "Michael."
"Hi Max," Tess said, grabbing her biology book from the locker. She didn't seem uncomfortable, so he had to assume that the dreams he had were his own.
Michael didn't greet him, just looked past him to Isabel. "How are you feeling?" he asked. "You okay?"
Max turned around in time to see Isabel nod. "What would be wrong with you?" he asked, confused. "Why's he asking?"
Isabel shook her head, looking away from Max, "I'm fine Max. Perfectly fine. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to be going."
She walked off, leaving a confused Max behind her. He turned back to Michael. "What's going on with her?" he asked, motioning towards the retreating Isabel.
Michael shook his head, "How the hell should I know the inner workings of the female mind? I just asked her because......she looked a little pale."
Max nodded, accepting his story, and Michael nearly sighed in relief. Isabel obviously hadn't told Max yet, and he didn't want to have to drop the bombshell all by himself. He didn't know how Max was going to react to this latest news, and he didn't want to find out alone.
"I, ugh, need to go ask her about some homework," Michael asked, referring to Isabel.. "I'll see you around Max, Tess."
They watched as he sprinted after Isabel, dodging kids in the crowded hallways. Max watched him go, wondering what had Michael acting so weird.
"So, how's it going with Michael?" Max asked, turning back to Tess as she gathered shut her locker and locked it.
She shrugged and smiled, "Oh, I don't know. I don't know how it's supposed to go when you meet your 16 year old brother you never really knew. It's okay though, we're dealing."
Max nodded, uncomfortably trying to think of something to say. Right now, he kept picturing her as she was in the dream. It was wrong, but it was unavoidable. Right now, he almost wished she had never found them. He thought he would be thrilled when they found another one of them, and that Michael finally had a family, and in a way he was. He was also upset that she was coming in between him and the human he had come to love more than anything else on this planet.
He opened his mouth to say something that would ultimately sound ignorant, when the warning bell for school rang, saving him.
"Bye Tess," he said quickly, dashing as quickly as he could towards the biology classroom.
Max slid into his usual spot beside Liz, carefully averting his eyes from hers. He was scared she would simply see in his eyes how guilty he was. He dug his books from his backpack and set them on the desk.
"Hey Max," Liz said in a cheerful voice. He forced himself to look at her.
"Hey," he replied in a strained voice.
"Are you allright Max?" she asked, concerned. "You don't sound too good."
"I'm just fine," he lied, shrugging, "Just a little tired, that's all."
She nodded, "I understand. Do you have the notes from last class? I was sick and I haven't had a chance to get them yet."
Max nodded and un zipped his binder to get them. He noticed Maria sitting at her station with Alex. Her eyes were red, and she looked miserable. "Michael problems?" he asked Liz, motioning his head towards Maria as he handed her his notes.
Liz just nodded, not elaborating. "What happened?" Max asked, prodding her.
Liz shook her head, "I think you should ask Michael. It's his right to tell you, not mine."
"It's that bad?" Max asked, as the teacher walked into the room.
Liz just shook her head and turned her attention to the teacher. "Just ask Michael, okay?" She couldn't believed he hadn't noticed Alex's depressed expression either.
*************
It was lunchtime. Max saw the 3 fellow members of his species eating lunch on the lawn outside. He wondered why Liz, Alex or Maria were not with them. Then he remembered Maria and Michael's problems, and figured the other 2 were having lunch with her.
He walked across the lawn to join them. They looked up as he approached. Tess offered him a bright smile. Is managed a weak greeting, and Michael said nothing.
"So Michael," Max said, sitting down as far away from Tess as he could without being obvious, "What's going on with you and Maria?"
Michael gave an almost panicked look, "What are you talking about Max?"
Max shrugged, "I honestly don't know. Liz just told me to ask you. Said it was your right to tell me. So, what is it?"
Michael exchanged glances with Isabel. "He needs to find out sooner or later," she said quietly. "And we need to tell Tess to."
Michael nodded as Tess asked, "What are you guys talking about?"
Isabel took a deep breath and grabbed Michael's hand. "To make a long story short, I'm carrying Michael's baby."
