Ujaset's Tail

"We ask nothing in return. We merely wish that these two not be apart from this world any longer. They are important.

"Will you allow this? You may of course supervise as you like. We will do no harm."

Dane looked around at the rest of the group. There were no strong dissenters.

"Very well", he said slowly lowering his mace.

Without speaking, the two apparent acolytes approached Mar and Ariana one to each and knelt down, removing the shrouds that covered them. Miraculously they were both still frozen solid.

Feeling somewhat uncomfortable with the situation and knowing that Portia still was peeved at nearly being captured by the man, Conor called out to the darkness, "My dear Portia. If this Davis fellow does anything remotely suspicious, you may kill him at your convenience." There was, of course, no answer, but to Conor's satisfaction there was at least a flicker of nervousness in Davis. Davis' eyes flitted around the camp as he just then realized that their resident halfling was conspicuously absent. And if he knew anything at all, it was that a halfling wanting revenge was a thousand times more dangerous than one who did not.

Amazingly, after just over a minute, Mar was screaming obscenities about the cold and Ariana's teeth chattered as they both made their shivering way to the fire that Whiff had stoked to an impressive blaze.

"Ah ... wonderful. Our work is done," pronounced Davis. As if on cue all three turned and quickly disappeared into the night. After a few minutes Portia came back to the camp shaking her head.

"I followed them for about a hundred paces, but lost them through one of those portal things. Before I could even think about following, it too was gone."
