Bane's Bane

much grunting and heaving, he finally pushed through with much clatter and soot showers.  And what should be behind the door ... another room with no exits. The opposite wall looked new ... and strong ... too strong even for the mighty Kaldes. So he tears out the ceiling ... great ... I was sure they'd definitely heard us by now.

We backtracked through to the Honey Room and continued though the temple, following the now familiar route to the Mosaic room (the room before the courtyard where we met the harpies before). Monjhi has a thought (okay ... everyone stop laughing). The wax must have been for the ears to avoid hearing the harpies song.

So, thinking we're very smart, we waxed ourselves and walked through the courtyard with Kaldes, Kodom and Monjhi in the lead.

And what to our wandering eyes should appear, but a medium size basilisk highly perturbed at begin awakened from its slumber.

With a shout of "PUT THE WAX IN YOUR EYES!" from Monjhi (completely undoing any respect that might have been gained by his "wax in ears idea"), Kaldes, Kodom and Monjhi engage, and luckily, make short work of the monster before anyone is effected by its stony gaze. I myself nearly fell asleep while leaning on a tree fiddling with my lute ... or is it luting my fiddle ... heh.

Anyway, at long last, we finally arrive at the big, front doors to what we hope is the main entrance.

The door's were unlocked so we opened them ... carefully. They opened onto a long hallway with pedestals and statues lining both walls and a double-door at the other end. Hmm ... could this be too easy. I hung back to see was happened ... and watched as Kaldes and Kodom were pounded by falling statuary. Yeah ... too easy.

But being somewhat thick-headed anyway, Kaldes was non-the-worse-for-ware. The rest of us warily approached the other door and bust in together.
