I was born and raised in the Purple Hills. My family lives at the edge of a small Gnomish village. 

My mother is a teacher and my father manages a small herd of sheep and an orchard; however, he is also a wizard and enjoys spending time reading, binding books (craft) and puttering in the burrow. He delegates most of the shepherding and harvesting to the younger gnomes in the family (I have several siblings). 

At relevant times of the year he travels to Myratma on trade business, usually sleeping at the Gambling Ghost Inn. I have accompanied him on these trips several times. A few times the whole family has traveled West, to the shore.

The sheep need protection from themselves, carnivores, the occasional
goblin party and, more rarely, from maurauding Orcs who have ventured forth from the peninsula. I learned the Goblin language and how to wield a crossbow. In late spring the sheep are sheared (I know how to do this). As gnomes do not weave, father travels to Myratma to arrange for the wool to be made into fabric, which he will later sell to the rest of the village. 

Apples, cherries, plums, and nuts are among the things yielded by the orchard. My family sells many of the apples to the Kraljaom
