This is my letter to Seventeen magazine for writing a bullshit ad about how "addictive" weed is. So ya... I sure showed them!

I have some more ranting on weed on
some other page somewhere...

I am writing in response to an ad you had in your October 2002 issue. The ad was warning your readers of the "highly addictive" properties of marijuana. I was appalled by how you could decieve so many of your readers with this false information. It is a proven fact that marijuana is not only the least harmful of "drugs", but also the least addictive. That would be less than 4%. Which is nothing compared to tobacco's 90%. In fact caffeine is rated to have a higher addictive rating than marijuana.

The only harm that marijuana can actually do to you is a possibilty of lung cancer. Even than it's only if you smoke it. It's not the plant itself that causes the cancer, but the smoke. That's because you get a chance of cancer with any kind of smoke. Just sitting around a campfire puts you at risk for lung cancer. Tobacco on the other hand, which is highly consumed by young and old alike, can give you throat and mouth cancer from just chewing it.

So my advice is, before you decide to run an ad such as this, do your research. Or better yet run ads that warn us about things that are actually killing us. Such as alcohol and tobacco. They are the truly addictive substances that are killing us.

...or you may like to hear some more of my ranting on marijuana...
Go home now... go on... shoo! shoo!
