MARIJUANA: The ANTI-Drug
Let's just start off with the misconception that marijuana is a drug. I know you're all saying, well anything that alters your way of thinking/state of mind is a drug. But hey, caffeine does that and chocolate has even been proven to have certain chemicals in it to make you happy. However, we don't exactly refer to them this way, nor do we consider people who use these substances "drug users".
What I'm getting at is, when you say the word drug, the mind automatically goes to junkies, heroin and dirty needles, cocaine, murder, prostitution, etc.. Let us all take a moment to pull away from these and look at the plant itself. Which in itself, is relatively harmless. Especially compared to the most widely used plant, which happens to be legal to those over the age of 18 or 16: TOBACCO.
Also, I find it very hypocritical that those who tell you not to smoke marijuana are sipping on a cup of coffee or swigging back some Coke. Maybe not necessarily at the exact moment. But caffeine is the most widely used drug. Caffeine is used much in the same way weed is. In the sense that caffeine users generally drink coffee or whatever to get that buzz only caffeine can provide. The only differences are the way both drugs are ingested, the side effects (caffeine has recently been linked to stuff like stress which in turn causes back and other muscle problems) and the fact that pot smokers are more honest in the sense that they admit to smoking pot to get high (why would you put yourself through the risk of smoking anything if it didnt do anything?) I also dislike how people say its a gateway drug. I mean if you really think about it tobacco and alcohol are bigger gateways than marijuana. But because they are both legal, and also there hasnt been propaganda set out against those two in the past, we all ignore them. But the most sleazy of them all is the way they totally misrepresent the facts. They give you facts, but not the whole story, just what they want you to hear. The most common way they present this fact is by saying that a certain percentage (always a substantially large number) of heroin and other hardcore drug users smoke/smoked weed. What they fail to mention is that most regular users of marijuana dont do that crap on a regular basis , let alone even tried it. And I mean like we all have free will here. By claiming that its a gateway drug, were just ignoring one of humanities weak points: stupidity and the fact that the majority of human beings have addictive personalities. Blaming our problems on an inanimate object is just down right stupid.
Its also totally your state of mind and naturally occurring genetic make-up, your personality. Any substance or act even has the capability to become psychologically addictive to someone. The worst way to try a drug of any sort is to be in an angry, sad or depressed mood. For you will find that this substance helps you escape these feelings. Youre escaping from reality and that is not healthy. Youre heading down a dangerous path. Out of just pure curiosity is fine, just do your research first. Not only on the new drug youre about to try, but try to look back onto some of your past experiences and decide for yourself if you have the mental capacity. Another very important thing (especially with any hallucinogen) is look into your families past in mental illness. I and many others would strongly recommend NOT doing any hallucinogen (or any other mind altering substance) if you have a family history of like multiple personalities or schizophrenia. But seriously, all it takes is a little common sense and as Dan would put it: Mind over matter.
More to come eventually...
