END OF THE WORLD?

Liz was lying in her bed late one night thinking about Max (of course.) It

was like she couldn't look at her bedroom window anymore without seeing

the hurt look on Max's face when he saw her there with Kyle. Then Liz

realized that it wasn't her imagination. Max really was there.

Liz got up out of bed and opened the window. "What are you doing here,

Max?" Something about Max didn't look exactly right. He looked older

somehow.

"Liz," he said. "This is going to be really hard for you to understand but

you must listen to me. I'm Max, but I'm Max ten years from now. I came

back in time because there's something you have to know."

"Again?" said Liz.

"What do you mean again?" said Max.

"Uh... nevermind. So what is it this ti - I mean what is it I have to

know?"

Max was surprised by how fast Liz accepted his story, but he knew time was

short. "It's Tess. Something must be done about her."

Liz felt like smacking her head against the wall. How did that skank

manage to fuck up the future yet again?

Max came in and sat down on the bed with Liz. "This is going to be really

hard to do, but the future of the planet depends on it."

Liz put her hand over Max's hand. "I'll do anything," she said, looking

into his eyes.

Max looked at Liz very seriously. "You have to kill Tess."

"Kill Tess? But isn't she like, vital to the Royal Four or something?"

"Four shmore. The whole thing was a ruse by Tess and the Skins to make us

trust her. She's very dangerous, Liz. In just a few hours, Tess and Kyle

will... consummate their recent flirtations."

"Tess and KYLE?" Liz made a disgusted face. "Kyle, what is wrong with

you?" she thought aloud.

"He doesn't know any better, Liz. That's why you have to just kill her.

And do it before the Valentis get home."

"Are you sure about this, Max?"

"As sure as I've ever been about anything, Liz. Once Tess is out of the

picture, everything will be okay."

Liz squeezed his hand. "I believe you, Max. Everything will be okay. Just

leave it to me."

Liz snuck into the Valentis' house through the back. She hadn't known what

she was going to do until she saw on her dresser the knife that Max had

given back to her. She had the knife in her pocket. Tess was in the living

room watching TV. She was watching an old rerun of Time of Your Life with

Jennifer Love Hewitt. Liz suppressed a gag and thought how appropriate it

was for someone like Tess to like such a brainless character.

She snuck up behind Tess without a sound. At that moment, Tess yawned and

stretched out her arms. Liz took the opportunity to slit Tess's throat

from behind. She gave her a few slices just to make sure she severed

everything. As Tess let out her last few gags, Liz whispered in her ear,

"Sometimes it's easier to do that, then to make someone see what's right

in front of her eyes."
