AVA’S RETURN
A
diminutive figure walked the streets of Roswell. It was after 11 at
night, but the person wandered down street after street, looking for
something. The person was a girl, wearing fishnet stockings, a short
skirt,
she had a punk look about her. It appeared that she had a nervous tic
that
made her grab her ear every few seconds. It also appeared that she
was
talking to herself.
"Finally," she muttered, when she came upon the house she was
looking for.
She strolled up quietly to the house and then changed direction, going to
the side of the house, looking for a specific window. She knocked
softly on
it.
Max heard the soft knock on his window and prayed that it wasn't
Tess. He
looked over and was surprised by who he saw. "Ava, where have
you been," he
asked as he slowly opened the window.
The girl climbed through the window, holding onto Max for support while
trying, and failing, not to stare at his unclothed upper body.
"That's not important," she answered. He went to go and
turn on a light,
but she stopped him.
"No," she said, "I don't want to wake the rest of the
house. I can only
stay for a few minutes, anyway. I just have something very important
to
tell you. A few things really."
Max sat on the bed as he tried to get eyes to adjust to the darkness.
There
was something about Ava that was a little different, something that he
couldn't place.
"Tess is not to be trusted," she said, seriously.
"What you think to be
true is not, you have to kill her."
His mind didn't process her statement at first. He had finally
figured out
what was different with her. "What happened to your
accent?"
"Uh...," she said nervously, while pressing on her ear,
"Yeah, that's it.
I'm trying to lose it so I can blend in where I'm living now."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense. Now, I have to KILL Tess?
Are you sure
about this? She's pregnant, I don't think I could do that.
Besides, I love
her."
At that point, Max thought that he faintly heard tiny voices
screaming.
Again, Ava grabbed her ear. She sat down next to Max.
"Max," she said
patiently, "think about it. You only get feelings for her when
you're
around her, you get crazy when you're around her, why do you think that
is?"
He stared at her with a blank look upon his face. "Ok,
little hint how did
she keep those scientists from seeing you when you were doing whatever it
is
that you did to that skeleton earlier in the season?"
"She mindwarped them," he said matter of factly.
Ava looked at him expectantly. "So, that means....."
"She mindwarped me? No, that's not, no. Sure, when I'm
away from her, I'm
repulsed by her and her whole wardrobe, but, I'm on the honor roll, if she
was doing this, I would know."
Again, Max thought he heard voices, but it had to be his imagination.
"Max," she said, "See, since I'm her Dupe, I know when she's
using her
powers. And how, so, I KNOW she's mindwarping you. She's not
pregnant,
she's evil, she killed Alex, now, go get her."
"Um..OK," he said doubtfully, while pulling a shirt over his
head. "But how
am I going to kill her? I don't want to leave any evidence."
"That doesn't matter, NOBODY notices anything on this sho....I mean,
in this
town. Maybe," Ava grabbed her ear again, "oh, try
separating her
molecules. You guys can do that in the book," she said as she
headed for
the window.
"What book," Max asked.
"The Destiny book of course," she said, climbing out of the
window.
"And by the way, tell Michael that he should grab Maria and drag her
into
the Eraser Room every now and then, hang out with Kyle more and come up
with
a way, ANY way to bring Alex back. It doesn't even have to make
sense,
it'll work, trust me. Bye."
And with that, Ava left.
Max went over to the Valenti household. He found an open window,
cause
that's how everybody gets in the houses in Roswell. Tess was
sleeping. He
put his hand on her stomach and he saw no baby. He caught sight of a
legal
pad sticking out from under her bed. It looked like a 'to do' list.
1. Buy more tight clothing.
2. Look up Transmogrify
3. Kill Alex
4. Convince Max he loves me
5. Pretend to be Pregnant
6. Check oil in Death U V
Max then concentrated on Tess's molecules. And soon, she was no more.
Ava finally found the street she was looking for. It was deserted, as
is
every street in Roswell after a certain hour. At least, it appeared
to be
deserted. There was actually a small band of people waiting for
her.
Fifteen women and one lone male.
Ava began to smile and then pulled off of the wig and her piercings.
"How'd it go," questioned a tall, red headed girl.
"Great, MD," Andrea said, "went off without a hitch. I
just love how they
take anything that their told at face value."
"It annoys crap out of me," Bette said as she looked up and down
the streets
to make sure that nobody spotted them.
"Yeah well, at least this time it worked to our favor," Laura
said.
"Do you think that he'll really do it," Elizabeth asked.
"Of course," Shell said, "if you use the word Destiny
anytime, they always
listen."
"Can't wait to see what you do with those images," Lila said.
"Well, Shell, as soon as you make them," Amy said, "you know
that they'll be
up on R.A.G.E."
"I wonder how long it will take them to play this episode in New
Zealand,"
Anah wondered aloud.
"Guys," Kerry said, as she came running up from her post, "I
heard some cars
driving around, there's movement in Roswell, where the hell is our
ride?
We've got to get out of here soon."
"Don't worry," Shelly said. "Worst case scenario,
we're stuck in Roswell."
"Yeah, but we'd only be extras, not leads," said Kylie, "and
where's the fun
in that?"
"Shhhh", Lisa interrupted, "I hear a car engine, maybe she's
finally here."
"I hope so," Caitlin said, "I think this Roswell air is
starting to mess
with my ability to think clearly."
At the end of the alleyway, a car appeared. It was the ATL
mobile. At
first glance, it appeared to be an ordinary 1996 Blue/Green Ford
Escort.
When you took a second glance at it, however, it had been stretched out to
accommodate a few extra people. The ATL members quickly clambered
aboard
the vehicle.
"Denise," Andrea asked, "where the hell were you?"
Denise peered out of the window, she looked a bit disheveled. "Nowhere,"
she said, not meeting Andrea's eyes.
"Denise," MD said warningly.
"Ok, ok, so I paid a visit to the youngest Valenti, so sue me, I'm
allowed
to have a little fun."
Choruses of "Not fair" and "You sicko, he's not even
real" came from the
back of the car. Then a disembodied voice asked, "Hey, can we
pay a visit
to every WB show and set things right?"
There was a silence from the car. Then anarchy ensued with each girl
calling dibs on characters they wanted.
The lone male voice of Scott muttered, "There is WAY too much estrogen
in
this car."
"Everybody strapped in," Denise asked as she looked in her
rearview mirror.
"YES," came the loud answer.
Denise put the car in gear and hit the gas. The car went backwards.
"They'll never notice us going in reverse," was shouted from a
few people.
"Bite me hard," came the response of the driver.
Then, the ATL set off to put right the various wrongs in the WB shows and
then made a side trip to Fox to have a little chat with two FBI Agents.
The end
