A NEW MISSION

By special guest author Bette

X-Files discussions with Denise about this gorgeous villain inspired me.  If
it hadn't ended up so long, I would've given us all some lines at the end.
Sorry bout that.  I wanted an ATL adventure *Sniff*  This'll have to do,
though, cause I be sleepy.

I got nothin', so don't sue.

Alex Krycek stepped off the plane and looked around at the boring mix of
people around him.  "It's going to be a long weekend", he thought to himself.

As he entered the airport, he laughed when he considered renting a car.  No
need for that when you can just take one from the nearest parking lot.

He was happy to see that no one was around the carport, as he wasn't in a
murderous mood at the moment.  There would be plenty of time for that later.

The hotels in Roswell certainly weren't what he would call nice, but they
would have to do for the moment.  All he had to do was concentrate on his
mission.

He was too tired to unpack his bags, but he did manage to dig out one thing:
a picture of a particularly hideous human girl.  At least, she appeared to
be somewhat human.  She also looked oddly similar to a gerbil, but he
supposed that she just got screwed in the genes department.  Why would anyone
make an alien-human-gerbil hybrid?

After his latest run-in with Mulder, he decided he needed to take it easy.
He was a little skeptical when he first received a cryptic message from a
girl named Bette claiming to be in the ATL, but after meeting with her, her
sisters, and the mysteriously quiet lone male with them, he realized that
they were onto something big.  He was just glad that Mulder hadn't heard of
this Tess-creature himself.  He probably wouldn't have had the guts to do
what needed to be done.

It was a slow morning, and Liz and Maria sat at the counter enjoying the
silence.  Liz was describing, once again, how wonderful Christmas night had
been.  Maria, however, was occupied checking out the mysterious stranger
seated alone at a nearby booth.

"It just made me think, you know?  There's obviously still something there
and....Maria?  Maria!"

"Uh, right.  How long have I been saying that, Liz?"

Liz rolled her eyes and stood beside her friend.  "So maybe you should go
take his order, Maria."

"Right...sure.  I'll do that", Maria told Liz as Liz disappeared into the
kitchen.  Maria blushed and fixed her apron.  Just as she grabbed her pen,
she noticed Roswell's trashiest entering the Crashdown.

"Hi, Maria!  Do you like my new top?  It's the greatest, isn't it?  I
actually had to alter it a little so it would fit.  It was a little too big
and...you know, I could take you to the store.  Omigod!  You could get one
and then we'd be like TWINS!"

Maria's head was reeling from hearing the annoying little troll's voice.
"Yeah, Tess, listen...I'm really not into the street walker image.  I prefer
a more refined look."

The shorter girl looked up at Maria with a stupid grin, then started
cackling.  "Oh, Maria!  You are just too funny!"

"Mm hmm...I sure am.  Listen, if you want to stuff your fat face, why don't
you just go get some pie off the counter?  I have to go take an order."  No
sooner had Maria said that that Trash laid eyes on the man in the booth.
"Ooh, let me!  Let me!"  She grabbed Maria's pen and pad and slid into his
booth.

"I cannot believe this."  Maria crossed her arms and shook her head.

"Maria, I was thinking, tonight we really should...what the hell?"

"Yeah, exactly my reaction."

"Um, hi!  You don't mind me sitting here, do you?"  Alex looked up from the
menu to see the girl from the picture.  He smiled at her.  Not because he was
pleased to have her sitting right next to him, but because it seemed as
though everything the ATL had told him was true.

"Sure...sometimes I can't believe my luck," he said and continued to look at
his menu.

She suddenly latched onto his arm and was starting up at him like an idiot.
"That is so sweeeet!"

"Yeah, I try.  Is there something you wanted?"

"Well, um...I can't remember. I think I was supposed to...supposed to..."

"Let's see...you brought over a pen and pad... This may sound a little nuts,
but were you going to take my order?"

"Right!", she practically screamed in his ear.  She started giggling madly.
He wanted to kill her right then and there, but unfortunately he didn't like
to work in public.

Liz decided that having the customers molested by Trash was not a good way to
get business, so she walked over to the booth where they were seated.

"Tess, Max is on the phone.  He said it was really important..I don't
remember exactly what he said.  Something about destiny...."  That's all it
took for the whore to get her ass out of the seat and to the nearest phone.
The phone was on the hook of course, but that didn't stop her from picking it
up and pushing buttons and saying "Hello" repeatedly.

"I'm really sorry about that, sir.  She's one of the locals, and we sort of
feel sorry for her."

"That's alright.  I've suddenly lost my appetite.  Are you and your two
friends doing anything tonight?"  He must've noticed Liz's stunned look,
because he added, "I'm new in town, so I was just wondering if maybe you
could show me around.  And I sort of feel sorry for her too...I mean, she
seems really pathetic."

"Right...that sounds fine.  Come by around 8."

"Sure thing."  He walked towards the door, and turned around.  "See you
ladies tonight!"

"Liz, did he just say what I thought he said?  Cause, you know, as hot as he
is, I'm not sure that that's a great idea.  Michael has really been..."

She was cut off by the thing hopping and squealing next to her.  "I knew he
liked me, I knew he liked me!  How could anyone resist me?"

"Right.  She was invited, too?"

"'Fraid so.  He just wants to be shown around town.  I'd do it alone, but he
does seem a little strange..."

"Well, anyway, it shouldn't be too hard to ditch her along the way somewhere."

Alex adjusted his leather jacket before entering the cafe.  Showtime.  "So,
you girls ready?"

"You bet!  Oh, you should probably learn our names.  I'm Maria, this is Liz,
and this is...well you can call her Tess, but she'll pretty much answer to
anything.  And this is Isabel.  I hope it's okay that we invited her."

"More the merrier.  Oh, I'm Alex. My car's out here."  He noticed four young
men sitting together at the counter, and they were all giving him some pretty
deadly looks.

"I don't like this one bit", Max said, to no one in particular.  "Me,
either", Michael responded.  "Well, I'm following 'em.  Who's in?"  They all
stood up wordlessly and waited until the girls and the stranger left before
walking out.

Tess managed to squeeze herself between Liz and Alex and was going on with
some sob story about how pitiful her life had been.  Isabel and Maria were
seated in the back stifling their laughter, but couldn't hold it any longer
when Liz turned to say, "What and ever make Whatever."

Alex wanted to laugh, but the thing seated next to him was giving him the
worst migraine he had ever had.  He normally didn't like to leave witnesses,
but the ATL had said that these girls were okay.  He didn't want to scare
them, though.

The pain was too strong, however, and he suddenly pulled over to the side of
the road and pulled the small blonde out.  Without saying a word, he pushed
her to the ground.

"Ooh, he likes it rough!" she squealed, as the other girls looked on to see
him getting a bat out of his trunk.  Before they knew it, he was bashing her
head in like a madman.  After a couple of minutes, he asked if they'd like to
have a turn.  After arguing over who got the first hit, they all enjoyed some
good, old fashioned Tess-bashing.

Just as Maria was getting her last hit in, the guys pulled up.  As soon as
they saw what was going on, Kyle, Michael, and Alex began to laugh
hysterically.  Max, however, went into his protective mode and was worried
about what to do with the body.

"Don't worry, Max, I'll clean this mess up", Krycek said, as he pulled out a
cell phone and dialed.

"How did you..."

"I know all of your names.  I was sent here by a very special group of people
called the Anti-Tess League.  You all should be thanking me...and them,
actually.  Just saved your lives.  I personally don't understand how you
could've lived with her this long."  Apparently, whoever he was calling
picked up.  "Right...yeah, all done.  Oh, of course.  Plenty of blood.  Yeah,
you were right.  The girls loved it.  I think maybe the guys are a little
jealous, though.  Uh huh.  That's great!  I was not about to board another
commercial plane.  Okay, we'll be meeting you out there."

"Alright, folks.  The ATL's jet is all fixed up, and they want to meet you.
They're on their way as I speak."

Maria grinned.  "They have their own jet?"

"Anti-Tess League...I like it", Liz said and smiled at Maria.  "I wonder if
they have any openings...."
