| You ready to call it a night, Sparky? Bobby asked as he flopped down into the nearest chair and dug the heels of his hands into his eyes in a vain attempt at rubbing them back to life.
More than, Jack said as he closed the filing cabinet drawer that he and Bobby had succeeded in clearing out. One down, thirty-nine more to go. Beer? Bobby suggested, too tired for full sentences. Jack sighed. Better get a rain check on that one, Crash. I think Im just gonna grab some take-out and go home. The hostess shot Levi a disparaging look when he led the two women through the heavy glass doors but she didnt say anything because she knew the team from their near-constant visits. Come with me, the obnoxiously thin woman behind the podium said. She grabbed two menus and led Sue, Abigail, and Levi to the table where Lucy and Tara were in the middle of a heated debate about something that abruptly stopped the moment Tara spotted Levi approaching the table in front of Sue. Hey, Sue said with a brilliant smile. She hugged her friends before sitting down next to Lucy. Lucy, Tara, this is Abigail. Abigail, this is Lucy and thats Tara, Sue said once they were all settled. Sue looked at the table and noticed that there were two extra places set. Are we expecting anyone else? she asked. Lucy shot Tara a telling look. Tara invited Bobby and were almost certain that once Jack finds out that youre here right now hell make a beeline for you, Lucy said, speaking and signing at the same time. Jack is our team leader and Bobby is another agent, Tara supplied. Abigail nodded. I got the low-down on the drive down, she said with a warm smile. Bobbys the lovable clown with dimples to die for and Jacks the stud-muffin with eyes that should be considered lethal weapons. I never said that, Sue protested loudly. I swear I never said that, she said, shooting a glare at Abigail who was laughing along with Tara and Lucy. Bobby strolled over and touched Sue on the arm to get her attention. Never said what, luv? he asked. Bobby, Sue said, smiling at the tall Aussie. Bobby smiled at her, giving Sue a good look at his dimples, before he sat down at the head of the table with Lucy on one side and Tara on the other. Um, Abigail, this is Bobby Manning. Bobby, this is Abigail. Shes the one that approached D about pulling me in for this case. |
