| Thank you, Tony said, grinning with pride. Even when they were alone he hadnt dropped the caring and concerned guy inside of him, and, for the first time since high school, Tony had not relied on sexually charged banter and innuendo to get a rise out of those around him. And, other than the cooking thing, youre not a half bad fake-wife.
Kate pouted. You said you liked the lasagne. I did, honest, Tony said quickly. It was just... a little insulting to my Italian tastebuds. Kate rolled her eyes and Tony spoke again. Hey, believe it or not, but I learned how to cook traditional Italian meals from my grandparents when I was growing up. I can tell you the exact proportions of every ingredient that goes into making pretty much any authentic Italian cuisine. Sure, you can spew recipes, but can you actually make the dish? Kate challenged. Tony stopped and turned so he was standing in front of Kate. Ill tell you what. As soon as we get back to DC you can come over to my place and Ill make whatever dish you want, from scratch, right in front of you. Trying to be flip so that her nervousness didnt show, Kate stood up a little straighter. You do realize that, in some cultures, making a girl dinner is considered a date. Good, cause that was what I was going for, Tony said before lowering his lips to hers, forgetting about the security cameras that were in all the street lights that NCIS had hacked into. | There had been no audio, thankfully, but having Gibbs, Abby, Ducky, McGee, and Palmer watch what was supposed to be an intimate moment between the two of them was bad enough. Tony hadnt told Kate that anyone other than Abby knew. She had sent him a video capture of the kiss and Kate had found out about it so she had broken down and gotten into deep girl-talk mode with the Goth lab technician who, despite her quirks, was the best person to go to when a secret needed to be kept. It was just unfortunate that the secret that Kate had let on hadnt been a secret to begin with. I dont think McGee noticed, Tony said in a reassuring tone, though he did make a mental note to make sure McGee didnt make an issue of it later. He didnt care so much for his own careerTony had done innumerable things that were pushing regulations or outright crossing the line. But Kate had already resigned one post in law enforcement because she was sleeping with a coworker; she didnt need another. Gibbs had pulled Tony aside after the assignment had wrapped up and had given him an outline of what was to be done and what was not to be done if he and Kate were to pursue a relationship. |
